Position overview
The Ultrasound Technologist (OB) performs diagnostic sonography examinations with a primary focus on OB/GYN abdominal and small parts imaging in a hospital-based imaging department. The role combines high-level technical skill with compassionate patient-centered care and requires independent judgment to ensure diagnostic image quality and safety.
Schedule
Key responsibilities

Perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations in OB/GYN abdominal and small parts according to provider orders and department protocols.

Accurately demonstrate and document anatomical structures and pathology to support interpretation by licensed providers.

Apply professional judgment to tailor imaging techniques to patient condition ensuring optimal image quality and patient safety.

Provide compassionate respectful patient care explaining procedures addressing questions and maintaining ethical and cultural sensitivity.

Prepare patients and ultrasound equipment including room setup transducer selection and equipment adjustments to meet exam requirements.
-
Recognize clinical and technical factors that may affect imaging outcomes and determine when additional views or follow-up are needed.
-
Float to other imaging areas or modalities when qualified (e.g. general ultrasound) supporting department coverage and workflow.
Required qualifications & skills
-
Graduate of a CAHEA-accredited sonography program or equivalent formal ultrasound education.

ARDMS certification (or equivalent approved credential) preferably with OB/GYN and Abdomen specialty registrations (e.g. RDMS OB/GYN RDMS Abdomen).

Active Oregon license as an Ultrasonographer or Radiologic Technologist/Sonographer consistent with state requirements for diagnostic medical sonographers.

Minimum 3 years of ultrasound experience including OB/GYN abdominal and small parts imaging.

Demonstrated ability to work independently adapt to changing department needs and collaborate effectively with radiologists providers and other imaging staff.
