We are searching for an innovative senior FinOps engineer to join our engineering team building the FinOps Capability across The LEGO group. Our products help LEGO Engineers optimize their cloud footprint from invent to operations and help management make data-driven decisions regarding budgets and contracts. We are a highly automated team paving the path for agentic FinOps enablement across all cloud providers on-prem and SaaS solutions.

Core Responsibilities

Our Cloud FinOps team develops and maintains our in-house FinOps platform serving 210 engineering product teams and providing the source of truth for finance. We lead the cloud budget participate in contract negotiations run highly automated campaigns for cost optimization and constantly expand our offerings to cover more scopes. The Sr. Engineer will be interacting extensively with and helping other product teams

  • Build and maintain our unified cost management solution in The LEGO Groups data platform leading integrations to data sources (cloud and on-prem) and the consumer side in PowerBI.
  • Build PowerBI reports PowerApps and chatbots and improve existing ones to match the needs of the user.
  • Build deploy and maintain the data pipelines for existing services and extend to other FinOps scopes and data clouds.
  • Drive FinOps practices across the organization together with the rest of the team analyzing cost data to provide advice about rightsizing re-architecting and budgeting.
  • Contribute to the FinOps roadmap improving our product services and processes resulting in a more automated FinOps practice.

The FinOps team is a core team for The LEGO Group providing foundational capabilities for the entire organization.

We are closing the gap between engineering and finance in a world where cost is consumption-based and ownership has shifted left to the engineers that spin up resources and make architectural choices. Our job is to provide a capability that can scale across many clouds and scopes without necessarily needing to grow the team. We automate every repetitive task bring the data where it needs to be used and strive to use agents to automatically generate the code in the product teams repository to reduce their cognitive load an operational burden. We also promote the FinOps culture as part of the DevOps practices and work very close to engineering teams to make it a reality.

We are a very international team; our work language is English and we use Agile methodologies in our work.

The team is sitting in our temporary LEGO Hub in Copenhagen soon moving to our official Hub at Postbyen and at the LEGO Campus in Billund. The work environment is exciting inspiring and flexible - and we like to have fun along the way!

Do you have what it takes

We are looking for candidates who are experienced in AWS and/or Azure cloud infrastructure architectural invent and cost optimization With a few years working experience in cloud infrastructure and good partner collaboration skills.

To succeed in this role the preferred candidate comes with experience with ETL pipeline development & maintenance for substantial data sets in Databricks. Development of self-service APIs using Python/spark for automation or orchestration. Good understanding of semantic models and experience displaying data in i.e. PowerBI.

Also we would like candidates to have familiarity with cloud cost reporting tools (e.g. 3rd party tools AWS/Azure Cost Explorer) and Cost Usage Report files.

Other nice-to-have skills would be:

  • Degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science Mathematics Statistics or Engineering.
  • FinOps practitioner certification (at least introduction to FinOps LFS175x).
  • AWS cloud practitioner and/or Azure fundamentals certifications.
  • Background in Cloud Data engineering or SRE engineering.
