We are seeking an energetic and visionaryExecutive Directorto leadCamp Riverside. OurCamp Riversideat Lewis Park a 100-acre oasis in the Myles Standish Industrial Park is the home toBoys & Girls Clubs of Metro Southssummer camp programs for youth ages 5-15.
TheExecutive Directorof Camp Riverside serves as the executive and strategic leader responsible for advancing the Clubhouses mission to enable all young people to reach their full potential as productive caring and responsible citizens. This role provides vision leadership and oversight for all aspects of Club operations including program quality financial sustainability staff development community partnerships and organizational growth. TheExecutive Directorworks closely with executive leadership staff volunteers and community stakeholders to ensure a safe inclusive and high-impact environment for youth while championing excellence accountability and long-term success across the organization. TheExecutive Directorwill exhibit skills as a dynamic operational professional with experience in planning leading and supervising outdoor and environmentally focused youth and/or community programs. Key areas of responsibility include leading the development and implementation of high-quality summer day camp programs for ages 5-15; ensuring effective communication and collaboration with Clubhouse leadership and direct service staff engaged in camp programming; building community relations to drive camp enrollment and rental contracts; and upholding a commitment to building a contagious camp culture by strengthening camper and family engagement via program quality special events consistent communication and innovation. This will require an intense summer schedule with frequent 40 hour work weeks with a high factor of attendance during that time. This role includes a 12-14-week PTO blackout period from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
TheExecutive Directoris responsible for overseeing and coordinating all Freight Farms and hunger relief initiatives across the organization ensuring alignment with strategic goals and community needs. This role manages day-to-day operations program expansion and performance monitoring of Freight Farms while leading partnerships logistics and resource allocation to support hunger relief efforts. The position collaborates with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure efficiency sustainability and compliance tracks outcomes and impact and drives continuous improvement to maximize access to fresh nutritious food for the populations served.
TheExecutive Directoris the leader of Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) initiatives for the organization in an effort to enhance processes performance and outcomes. Responsibilities involves collecting and analyzing data identifying trends and opportunities for improvement facilitating root cause analyses and collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop implement and monitor quality improvement plans including the annual NYOI initiatives. The position also ensures compliance with grantfunded CQI standards supports performance measurement and reporting and promotes a culture of quality accountability and ongoing improvement through training communication and stakeholder engagement.
Ultimately theExecutive Directorwill assist with driving leading and managing a seamless and meaningful Club experience from an individuals first point of contact with the Club to the daily engagement of current members. The Executive Director must exude professionalism and confidence in knowledge of Club programming implementing the Clubs Member Engagement Principals of welcome connect support and invite during all member and guest interactions.
Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Camp Riverside Management:
- Responsible for fiscal oversight performance and budget development including annual budgetary goals and metrics.
- Effectively operate the facility and all program activities: Manage the facility on a daily basis ensuring that regular activities and special programs run smoothly. Establish appropriate management tracking methods to ensure the Club performs effectively in all key areas.
- Represents and promotes the Club in the local community and develops positive working relationships with other organizations businesses and governmental entities. Develops maintains and models collaborative relationships with community agencies in service delivery area.
- Oversees the hiring training supervision and evaluation of staff.
- Recruit and hire staff using screening tools and panel interviews to gain the best possible fit.
- Develop and implement strategies to best utilize our facilities during non-traditional programming hours (rentals community events etc.)
- Maintains responsibility for the safe and effective operations of all Camp Riverside programs facilities and support areas.
- Ensures the highest standards when it comes to camp operation in every aspect of the camp operations (both internal and external).
- Directs a progressive camp program including on and off-site programs during the summer and a conference and retreat program during the fall winter and spring.
- Plans develops and implements robust camp programs and leads the innovation of new programs activities events and new business lines in partnership with the Club management.
- Develops innovative curriculum in the areas of leadership development character development and outdoor education.
- Assists with all supporting documentation and ongoing completion of audits of that documentation to ensure safety and quality standards are met for a top-class camp operation.
- Supports marketing efforts for recruitment and retention of campers in partnership with the Director of Marketing & Communications.
- Evaluates the camps programs continually involving staff group leaders group participants campers parents and the facility. Advise administrative and maintenance staff of operational needs and challenges.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge of standards and licensing requirements of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts local municipalities and licensing bodies in support of our work.
Freight Farms Leadership:
- Responsible for advancing resources and strategy for food insecurity initiatives organization-wide.
- Provide overall thought leadership to help define the strategic vision for Club(s) Freight Farm/Food Rescue programming while contributing to the expanded capacity of our Clubs to serve healthy daily meals to our youth and provide fresh locally grown produce to children and families throughout Southeastern Massachusetts.
- Create and implement processes to increase the sustainability and efficiency of the Freight Farms/Food Insecurity programs manage staff team and develop relationships with key community partners and evaluate the effectiveness and impact of the new program to identify areas of improvement.
- Supervision of (2) full-time staff including; the Farm Operations Director and Food Access & Outreach Director.
Continuous Quality Improvement:
- Responsible for leading coordinating and sustaining the organizations CQI efforts. This role ensures the systematic use of data performance measurement and improvement methodologies to enhance organizational effectiveness service quality and outcomes. The CQI Manager collaborates with leadership staff and stakeholders to foster a culture of continuous learning and accountability.
- Address Specific Problem Areas: Identify and correct areas where the Club is under-performing. Organize strategies as necessary to address these issues.
Other Executive Functions:
- Establish and implement an annual operating plan: Working with staff volunteers and Club management develop an overall operating plan for the coming year including goals timelines growth retention and expected results.
- Directs Club strategic planning responsibilities and develops the annual operating plan of the Club.
- Creates a member-focused culture and models relationship-building skills in all interactions.
- Fosters a climate of innovation and resolves problems to ensure member satisfaction.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Understanding of and deep appreciation for the mission vision and values of Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro South and the respective roles of all stakeholder groups.
- BA/BS from an accredited college or university in business outdoor education non-profit management or related field or equivalent experience required.
- Minimum of three years of experience in camp/recreational business operations growth and development community involvement relationship building program/business line development employee selection supervision and development and day-to-day enterprise management preferred.
- Two years of experience in facility management is preferred.
- BGCA Certified Club Director preferred
- Comprehensive knowledge of program planning organizational design curriculum development budgeting and administrative operations.
- Demonstrated experience managing a high-performing team of direct service staff.
- Superior organizational skills attention to detail and project management experience including the ability to work efficiently and effectively to meet deadlines in a cross-functional team-based environment.
- Demonstrated resource management budgeting and analytical skills including the ability to compile and analyze data for planning and reporting purposes.
- Technological proficiency including a command of the Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with using a database to track and extract information.
- Exemplary communication skills (written and verbal) are needed including the ability to present in front of large groups interact with and motivate stakeholders represent the organization at community events and meetings and write professionally in emails etc.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people (staff families youth etc.) and a track record of building and sustaining meaningful relationships with individuals and teams from all socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Commitment to professionalism including high expectations and standards of quality a strong work ethic and personal code of ethics accountability and dependability.
- Self-motivated and goal-oriented with the ability to set effective objectives for teams and individuals and take ownership for results
- Demonstrated commitment to the values of diversity inclusiveness and empowerment.
- Willing to provide leadership daily in a normal eight-hour day and occasional night and weekend hours. This position does not provide for remote work options.
- Certifications: As outlined in BGCMS Training Academy upon hire or within allocated training timelines.
- This position requires a valid drivers license and will require frequent local travel.
