The Role
You will efficiently and accurately handle the receipt storage and dispatch of raw materials and finished products within a food manufacturing environment. The Warehouse Operative ensures that products are stored safely inventory levels are maintained accurately and orders are prepared and dispatched in a timely manner to meet customer and production demands.
Key ownership areas
Receiving Goods:
Unload incoming deliveries of raw materials and other products.
Check goods against delivery notes for accuracy and report any discrepancies. Complete relevant paperwork as needed for intake.
Inspect the condition of goods received ensuring they meet quality standards.
Record all received items in the inventory WMS.
Storage and Inventory Management:
Store raw materials and finished products in appropriate locations ensuring proper stock rotation (FIFO).
Maintain accurate and up-to-date inventory records.
Conduct regular stock counts and report any variances.
Ensure all stock is stored in a clean organized and safe manner.
Order Fulfilment:
Pick and pack orders according to customer and production requirements.
Ensure accuracy of picked items against order documentation.
Prepare orders for dispatch including labeling and palletizing products as needed.
Load outgoing shipments onto delivery vehicles ensuring secure and efficient loading.
Health and Safety:
Adhere to all health and safety regulations and company policies.
Operate warehouse machinery (e.g. forklifts pallet trucks) safely and responsibly.
Maintain a clean and tidy work environment to prevent accidents and ensure the safety of all employees.
Report any safety hazards incidents or accidents to the Warehouse Supervisor/Manager.
Quality Control:
Ensure all products handled meet the companys quality standards.
Identify and report any damaged or non-conforming products.
Follow established procedures for the disposal of rejected materials.
Collaboration and Communication:
Work closely with other departments (e.g. Production Quality Control) to ensure smooth warehouse operations.
Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding any issues or improvements needed in the warehouse processes.
Continuous Improvement:
Who we are looking for:
Previous experience in a warehouse or logistics role preferably within the food manufacturing industry.
Ability to operate warehouse equipment (forklifts pallet trucks) safely.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Good communication and teamwork abilities.
Basic computer skills for inventory management systems (Advantage).
Physical stamina to perform manual handling tasks and work in a fast-paced environment.
Knowledge of health and safety regulations related to warehouse operations.
