Job Description
Registered Nurse providing high quality nursing care for hematology/oncology patients and family members for a patient population within theInfusionCenter.
Job Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate excellent ability to perform patient assessments and provide symptom management as well as patient and family education
- Practice safe administration of chemotherapy/biotherapyinfusions and injections in accordance with protocols and guidelines
- Assess and monitor patients during and afterinfusiontherapy
- Act as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide continuity of care throughout various stages of treatment and follow-up
- Triageinfusionpatients in collaboration with providers for symptom management toxicity assessment and needs for referrals within theRNscope of practice
- Assess learning needs and educates the patient and family in disease process chemotherapy treatment plan side effects and side effect management.
- Document patient information treatment plans and progress in electronic medical records
- Able to multi-task and manage a complex workload effectively to provide safe high quality patient care
- Participate and engage in continuous professional development safety behaviors and focus on the patient experience
- Communicate and work collaboratively with the patient family and health care team members to develop and implement patient care
- Deliver direct patient care within the scope of licensure and in accordance with Starling Physicians policy.
Qualifications:
- Current Connecticut nursing license
- Current OCN Chemotherapy/Biotherapy card (or within first month of hire)
- Oncology Certified Nurse (ONC) - Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation is preferred.
- BLS certification
- Ability to use problem solving critical thinking and priority setting skills
