Job Summary:

The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing day-to-day accounting operations ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records and supporting timely financial reporting in accordance with GAAP. This role manages the month-end close process supervises accounting staff strengthens internal controls and drives process improvements. The Accounting Manager partners closely with Finance leadership and cross-functional teams to support operational and strategic objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Manage and oversee daily accounting operations including general ledger journal entries reconciliations and financial close activities.
Lead the monthly quarterly and year-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
Review and approve journal entries account reconciliations and support documentation for accuracy and compliance.
Supervise coach and develop accounting staff to ensure consistent performance and adherence to accounting standards.
Ensure financial statements are prepared in accordance with GAAP and company policies.
Assist with balance sheet management including accruals prepaids fixed assets and depreciation.
Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation and responding to audit requests.
Establish document and continuously improve accounting policies procedures and internal controls.
Partner with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable leadership to ensure proper cut-off reconciliations and reporting.
Prepare and analyze financial reports and variance analyses for management review.
Identify opportunities for process improvements automation and system enhancements.
Ensure compliance with company policies state and federal regulations and internal control standards.
Perform any additional duties as assigned by management.

Experience and Education Required:

Strong knowledge of GAAP and general accounting principles.
Proven leadership and people management skills.
Strong analytical problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Excellent organizational time management and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
High attention to detail with a strong focus on accuracy and controls.
Collaborative team player with the ability to partner across departments.
Minimum of 57 years of progressive accounting experience.
Prior supervisory or management experience required.
Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance required.
CPA or CMA preferred but not required.
Proficiency in ERP/accounting systems reporting tools and Microsoft Office (advanced Excel preferred).
Experience in food distribution manufacturing or high-volume transactional environments preferred.
