Nationwide IT Services NIS is seeking a Database Engineer for a potential this position the Engineer will:
- Write PL/SQL and Stored Procedures for handling large queries over many datasets.
- Create tables indexes constraints triggers etc. as needed to ensure performance and business process continuity.
- Apply patches provision backups and optimize performance across various datasets.
- Support the engineers in maintaining the health security and availability of critical Oracle database services.
- Apply DISA STIGs (Security Technical Implementation Guides) to the database layer. This involves locking down permissions enabling auditing and encrypting data at rest and in transit.
- Assist the team during maintenance windows to apply Oracle Critical Patch Updates.
- Create user accounts grant specific roles/privileges based on approval tickets and unlock accounts for government staff.
- Script infrastructure provisioning using AWS CloudFormation Terraform or Ansible to create reproducible database environments.
- Check RMAN logs daily to ensure backups completed successfully.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Active Secret Clearance Preferred
- Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or Information Systems
- 3 years of deep Oracle Database experience (Versions 12c 19c 21c)
- Must hold or be able to obtain a CompTIA Security CE certification (or higher like CASP or CISSP)
