ABOUT THE ROLE

This Staff Accountant role is critical to ensuring our clients receive accurate timely and compliant financial reporting. The person in this position will be responsible for managing full-cycle accounting for a portfolio of clients and will serve as their main point of contact for financial matters. They will also work closely with internal tax and payroll teams to deliver integrated high-quality service. This role is ideal for someone with strong technical accounting expertise analytical skills and a client-service mindset.

Has prior experience managing full-cycle accounting and preparing financial statements.

Feels comfortable using accounting software like QuickBooks and Netsuite.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES


CLIENT ACCOUNTING MANAGEMENT

  • Serve as the main accounting contact for a portfolio of assigned clients

  • Prepare accurate and timely monthly quarterly and annual financial statements

  • Maintain general ledger entries perform reconciliations and make necessary adjustments

  • Record categorize and classify bank transactions accurately and consistently

  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and other relevant accounting standards

  • Track outstanding tasks and coordinate with clients to collect missing information

INTERNAL COORDINATION & CLIENT SUPPORT

  • Collaborate with internal tax and payroll teams to ensure seamless client service

  • Resolve client inquiries and help troubleshoot accounting issues

  • Maintain well-organized and complete financial records for each client account

ADMINISTRATIVE & REPORTING SUPPORT

  • Follow internal processes for documentation reporting and time tracking

  • Support the preparation of internal reports and financial analyses

  • Log billable hours per client and project to ensure accurate billing and oversight

While the responsibilities above will form the core focus of this role the hiring manager may assign additional relevant tasks as needed to support the evolving goals of the position and the business.


ROLE QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting or related field.

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in accounting services.

  • Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish (oral and written).

  • Solid understanding of accounting principles (GAAP).

  • Hands-on experience with QuickBooks Netsuite Microsoft Excel and analytical software (Power BI Tableau)

  • Ability to manage multiple client accounts and meet deadlines.

  • Excellent English verbal and written language proficiency (C1-C2 in CEFR Scale).

  • Access to a reliable computer with webcam microphone and high-speed internet (100 Mbps or higher).

  • Access to a quiet work area at home with reliable internet (100 Mbps or more).


NICE-TO-HAVE QUALIFICATIONS

  • CPA CMA or advanced degree in Accounting.

  • Experience in public accounting or financial services firms.

  • Experience working in remote or distributed teams.

  • Knowledge of U.S. tax season workflows and client expectations.


ROLE SPECIFICATIONS

  • Base Salary: Q16000 base salary.

  • Role type: Full-time.

  • Location: Guatemala (Remote - Work from home).

  • Schedule: Monday to Friday: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM MST.


RECRUITING PROCESS

  • Skills Assessment: You will be asked to complete a few exercises and/or projects designed to recreate the work tasks that you will be responsible for if you are given the role. This helps us gauge your skill level as well as give you a better idea of the required work.

  • Skills Assessment Interview: This is a 60 min - 90 min conversation where we further test your skills learn about your previous working experiences and evaluate culture fit to the role and company.

  • Hiring Manager Final Interview: This is a 30 min - 60 min conversation with the positions Hiring Manager (and potentially a few company team members) to get to know you better and to set the expectations and vision for the role.

The entire process usually takes anywhere between 2-4 weeks to complete depending on the seniority of the position.
