UNUSUAL WORKING CONDITIONS

Works outside exposed to weather dirt rust car fumes burns from hot engines fast moving vehicles highway noise & angry vehicle owners; conducts inspections in confined spaces under automotive vehicles utilizing a creeper.

What Youll Do As A Motor Vehicle Inspector

  • Inspect motor vehicles including motor homes campers school buses church buses self-assembled vehicles & salvage vehicles to determine whether they are unsafe or improperly equipped or that equipment is in proper adjustment or repair as required by law by entering & exiting vehicles & bends stoops & utilizes mechanics creeper in order to crawl under vehicle to visually check vehicle mechanical components.
  • Enter & retrieve information using numerous Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) databases.
  • Complete inspection forms & affix inspection decals to those vehicles which pass.
  • Operate state owned motor vehicle inspection vehicle to transport equipment used in motor vehicle inspection.
  • Inform the owner &/or operator of repairs or adjustments which are necessary to place the vehicle in safe condition.

6 mos. trg. or 6 mos. automotive maintenance & repair &/or mechanical vehicle inspections;

AND6 mo. exp. utilizing personal computer & associated business office applications (Microsoft applications such as Word Excel Outlook.);

ANDformal education in arithmetic that includes addition & subtraction & in reading writing & speaking common English vocabulary;

ANDvalid drivers license.

-Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.

POSITION SPECIFIC MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Valid Drivers license required.
