We are growing and seeking a PRN Pharmacist.
The PRN Pharmacist is responsible for the safe accurate and compliant dispensing of prescription medications. This role emphasizes prescription verification regulatory compliance clinical review and oversight of pharmacy operations related to dispensing shipping and patient communication.
General Duties and Responsibilities:
- Review and verify prescription orders for accuracy legality and clinical appropriateness.
- Conduct drug utilization review (DUR) including interactions allergies duplications and contraindications.
- Perform final verification prior to dispensing packaging and shipment.
- Verify shipping accuracy delivery documentation and tracking processes.
- Ensure compliance with temperature-sensitive medication handling and cold-chain requirements if applicable.
- Complete and maintain required pharmacist verification and attestation logs.
- Ensure prescriptions are dispensed in accordance with prescriber instructions and applicable laws.
- Provide telephonic or electronic patient counseling as required by law or pharmacy policy.
- Respond to patient inquiries related to medication use side effects interactions and adherence.
- Communicate with prescribers regarding clarifications or therapy concerns.
- Ensure compliance with all federal and state pharmacy laws including non-resident pharmacy regulations.
- Maintain proper documentation for prescription processing transfers and refills.
- Oversee compliance related to controlled substances including DEA requirements.
- Support regulatory audits and inspections.
- Ensure HIPAA compliance and protection of patient health information.
- Participate in recall management and product quarantine procedures.
- Ensure proper handling of returned damaged or undeliverable medications.
- Supervise pharmacy technicians interns and support staff.
- Ensure technicians perform duties within the scope of practice and training.
- Promote accuracy efficiency and quality assurance in a high-volume environment.
- Report and document dispensing errors or near misses according to policy.
- Oversee medication inventory including procurement storage expiration monitoring and recalls.
- Ensure controlled substances are securely stored and documented.
Professional Responsibilities
- Maintain active pharmacist licensure in the state of practice and required non-resident licenses.
- Maintain DEA registration (if applicable).
- Complete continuing education requirements.
- Adhere to professional ethical and legal standards of pharmacy practice.

Education
Bachelor of Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD.) degree with an active Georgia Pharmacist license.
Licensure
- Active unrestricted pharmacist license in Georgia.
- Eligibility for non-resident licensure as required.
Experience
- Experience in retail mail-order specialty or high-volume pharmacy preferred.
- Familiarity with automated dispensing and fulfillment systems preferred.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong attention to detail and clinical judgment.
- Ability to work in high-volume production-based environments.
- Proficiency with pharmacy management systems and automation.
- Knowledge of multi-state pharmacy laws and non-resident requirements.
