We are seeking a detail-oriented Cancer Registry Associate to join our team in Towson United this role you will play a crucial part in maintaining accurate and comprehensive cancer registry data contributing to vital research and improving patient care.
- Collect analyze and manage cancer-related data from various sources ensuring accuracy and completeness
- Abstract pertinent information from medical records and enter data into cancer registry software
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to gather additional information when needed
- Ensure compliance with cancer registry standards guidelines and regulations
- Participate in quality control activities to maintain data integrity
- Generate reports and assist in data analysis for research purposes
- Stay updated on changes in cancer registry processes and coding systems
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations
Qualifications :
- Associates or equivalent training in Health Information Technology/ Medical Records or related field is required.
- Oncology Data Specialist (ODS-C) strongly preferred
- Previous experience in cancer registry or related healthcare data management
- Proficiency in cancer registry software and Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong data entry and management skills with excellent attention to detail
- Knowledge of medical terminology cancer staging and coding systems
- Analytical and problem-solving skills to ensure data accuracy and resolve discrepancies
- Understanding of cancer registry processes guidelines and HIPAA regulations
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication skills to interact with healthcare providers and team members
