Job Overview:
The Manager Human Resources would provide leadership in human resources functions and will deliver strategies which support the institutions overall strategic aims and objectives. They will be expected to contribute at both a strategic and operational level in order to identify HR priorities and recommend appropriate HR solutions to support the Schools aims.

Responsibilities:

Strategic HR Management

  • Responsible for the implementation of Human Resource Strategic Objectives set by the School.
  • In consultation with the Executive Director Finance and Administration prepare and implement the annual HR Plan to support the overall strategic aims and objectives of the Board.
  • Identify design and implement strategic HR projects as and when required.
  • Work closely with Dean/ED and Heads of departments for the implementation of strategic objectives related to faculty research and quality delivery of education.
  • Prepare short and long term plans for the HR department including succession planning based on the Schools quality objectives and the approved budget.

Resourcing Recruitment and Promotion

  • Provide support to managers in the recruitment of all staff.
  • Effectively announce vacant posts at the School.
  • Participate in the selection of staff as appropriate.
  • Calculate the existing manpower in the School and coordinate with respective departments to identify their prospective needs qualifications and experience.
  • Maintain and archive staff documents and records.
  • Plan the recruitment paths and staff promotions at the School.
  • Create performance agreement with existing and new staff.
  • Create and prepare staff personal files update their content ensure the accuracy of the information and prepare the letters regarding the staff affairs.

Employee Relations

  • Work closely with line managers providing them with expert guidance coaching and support on the full range of HR activities (including policies and procedures terms and conditions of employment absence management restructuring of services performance management redundancy planning etc.) in order to ensure a consistent and fair approach to staff management throughout the School.
  • Manage disciplinary and grievance matters related to staff in conjunction with the Executive Director.
  • Develop implement and maintain HR policies and procedures to ensure effective fair and consistent management of staff throughout the organisation.
  • Ensure that managers and staff are aware of the policies and procedures and are updated on key business and organisational issues.
  • Provide support to staff on HR issues as and when required.
  • Develop systems and mechanisms to measure staff performance. Monitor and review the system of performance appraisal and continually develop as necessary ensuring that annual appraisals are carried out in a timely manner and followed up.

Learning and Development

  • In consultation with line managers follow up individual development needs and source external training provision as and when required monitoring training costs against budget.
  • Administer the evaluation of all learning and development activities.
  • Make recommendations on a cost-effective Human Resource development programme to support the Schools HR management strategies.
  • Maintain training records for all staff and assist with any training initiatives as required.
