Job Summary
Overview
M&J Engineering D.P.C. is hiring Asbestos Investigator to work on projects in the New York Cit area. Our projects are generally located at public facilities including but not limited to schools public buildings bridges subway stations etc. This is an exciting opportunity to join our collaborative team of experienced engineers architects scientists and other professionals.

M&J Engineering is a leader in construction management and inspection ITS mechanical electrical wastewater water supply tunnel airport port marine/coastal environmental engineering and design-build services for both new infrastructure projects and renovations.
Responsibilities
- Performing asbestos field investigations/surveys following federal state local and client/agency protocols.
- Collecting samples and deliver them to a lab for analysis take photographs complete chain-of-custody forms and prepare sample collection drawings (photo logs).
- Assist in preparation of comprehensive asbestos survey reports.
- Exercise sound independent judgment.
- Maintain accurate records and prepare clear and concise technical correspondence.
- Interpret sampling results and apply relevant laws and regulations.
- Communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing.
- Establish and maintaining cooperative working relationships with team members.
- Travel throughout the New York Metropolitan Area
Qualifications
- A minimum of two years of experience performing hazardous materials surveys
- Current NYSDOL Asbestos Inspector License (obtained a minimum of two years ago)
- Current Investigator Certificate is highly desirable
- Ability to read project drawings and specifications
- Valid NYS Drivers License and ownership of a vehicle to be used for transportation to the job site
- Ability to use power tools climb ladders and carry sampling and ancillary equipment
- Trained to use PPE such as masks respirators safety harnesses etc.
- Be available to work flexible hours
- Current Asbestos Investigator Certificate
Salary: $60000 - $111000 based on experience qualifications and project scope
