Candu Energy Inc. is looking to hire a Senior Mechanical Engineer (Stationary Equipment). This position requires well-qualified and suitably experienced individuals who are self-starter capable of working independently. The individuals will work in a fast-paced team environment performing and leading engineering design services for Nuclear Power Plants within a matrix organization.
Develop Mechanical Equipment Documentation
Prepare mechanical equipment technical specifications data sheets tender packages vendor interfaces bid evaluations and equipment purchase recommendations.
Perform Mechanical Design & Review
Review process flow sheets detailed drawings equipment layouts and perform sizing/selection of stationary equipment for nuclear steam plants and balanceofplant ensuring maintainability and operational efficiency.
CrossDisciplinary Engineering Coordination
Collaborate with peers and other disciplines to provide mechanical design input for plant layouts specifications inspection/testing procedures commissioning plans and design registration submissions.
Client Coordination & Technical Guidance
Work with clients on large and ongoing nuclear projects delivering technical advice on design operations and maintenance to support reliable and economical equipment performance.
Project Execution & Verification Support
Monitor and report project progress; support manufacturing assembly testing commissioning; and review reports analyses calculations and drawings for design verification.
Meetings Site Work & Quality Oversight
Conduct technical meetings follow up on action plans prepare detailed technical reports perform site visits for inspection/testing and support quality surveillance and nonconformance resolution.
Supplier Oversight & Team Leadership
Assess supplier capability to meet technical requirements review engineering quotation and procurement packages and mentor junior and intermediate engineers through guidance and knowledge transfer.
Mechanical or Nuclear Engineering degree with 1520 years of senior mechanical equipment design experience in EPC firms or major power-sector OEMs (preferably CANDU thermal power petrochemical refineries or other process plants). Registered Professional Engineer (.) in Ontario with authority to seal engineering documents.
Expertise in design O&M and engineering of pressure vessels reactors process columns heat exchangers tanks filters agitators and related components.
ASME Section III Appendix XXIII Specialized Professional Engineer qualification within the last 5 years considered an asset.
Strong working knowledge of CSA nuclear standards (N285 series N286 N289 series N299) ASME Sections II/III/V/VIII/IX/XI API standards (510 579-) TEMA ASCE 7 NBCC and other Canadian/US/international codes.
Experience with nuclear pressure boundary codes is an asset. Deep understanding of process systems equipment design machine component design materials selection equipment sizing/selection and troubleshooting.
Solid knowledge of wind and seismic design requirements. Strong written and verbal communication especially technical report writing. Proven interdisciplinary coordination with Process Electrical/I&C Civil/Structural Safety/Reliability Piping and Client teams.
