Special Education Teacher, Concord Middle School January 2026

Concord Middle School is seeking an experienced skilled and self-motivated special education teacher to serve as the Lead Teacher for its intensive learning program Pathways. This position begins in mid-to-late January and will continue through the remainder of the school year with the potential to extend beyond. This is an exciting opportunity to join one of Massachusetts highest-paying school districts and work in a newly constructed state-of-the-art middle school building that opened in February Pathways program at Concord Middle School serves students with cognitive and intellectual impairments neurological and neurodevelopmental disabilitiesincluding Autismand other related needs requiring intensive academic and functional support throughout the school day. Programming is tailored to individual students and ranges from substantially separate instruction to supported inclusion in general education classrooms. The students currently in the program are among the most joyful engaging and delightful members of our school community contributing positively to the spirit and culture of the program is designed to provide a safe and supportive educational environment in which students receive specialized instruction in academics communication social skills and daily living skills needed to be contributing members of the school and community. A primary focus of the program is to develop the skills and foster the independence necessary to access the curriculum and participate meaningfully in the life of the school. Students individualized needs are met through a transdisciplinary approach using evidence-based teaching ideal candidate will demonstrate the initiative to proactively problem-solve adapt materials and seek innovative strategies to meet diverse learner needs across Pathways program is supported by a transdisciplinary team that includes a Special Education Teacher Speech-Language Pathologist Occupational Therapist Physical Therapist Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) School Counselor General Education Teacher(s) and Paraprofessionals. The team implements individualized data-driven instructional strategies tailored to each students needs. These approaches may include staff and peer modeling task analysis small group instruction discrete trial training (DTT) naturalistic teaching strategies collaborative group learning and functional communication training (FCT).Students have access to standards-based curricula with modifications and accommodations as needed. If a student cannot access grade-level curriculum with modifications specialized programs are used. When students receive curriculum at their instructional level and pace they develop independence and should have a solid understanding of adapted curricula and be able to collaborate with general education and inclusion teachers to make academic content accessible and meaningful for all Duties and Responsibilities:- Plan effective specialized instruction and intervention for students on IEPs within the program- Administer formal diagnostic assessments and tests for caseload students referred for three-year reevaluations.
