Wastewater Management oversees all aspects of wastewater functions including the construction operation and maintenance of the Citys sanitary and storm systems. The agency implements city wastewater policies establishes cost controls and fees used to support operational requirements and capital improvements projects and responds to customer inquiries.
As a Wastewater GIS Technician you will:
Utilize GIS (Geographic Information System) software to calculate billing for storm water and sidewalk drainage. Each team member is assigned to a specific region of the city
Inspect and measure commercial and residential land parcels to determine impervious areas (concrete asphalt rooftops driveways patios ect) and number of sanitary connections. This data forms the storm drainage database.
Maintain records of completed inspections for billing. Investigate disputed billings
Explain rules regulations and municipal ordinances to the public. May represent the City in legal actions or on special investigative regulatory boards.
Our ideal candidate has some or all the following experience skills and characteristics:
At least 1 year of GIS experience ArcGIS Pro is a plus!
Experience working with site plans property maps or legal descriptions of parcels
Experience performing inspections
Some experience performing calculations with formulas
Knowledge of wastewater systems
Proactive and independent
Education requirement: Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED HiSET or TASC Certificate.
Experience Requirement: Two (2) years of experience reading site plans blueprints property maps legal descriptions explaining policies procedures statutes rules and/or regulations which includes one year working with Geographic Information Systems software.
Education/Experience Equivalency: Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirement.
License/Certifications: Requires a valid Drivers License at the time of application. Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment.
