Summary:TheMedication Technician (MedTech) provides personal care and support to residents while safely administering medications and treatmentsin accordance withphysician orders facility policies and regulatory requirements. Qualification Requirements High school diploma or equivalent (GED). Completed24-hour Medication Aide training program approved by the NC Board of Nursing. | ||
Minimum Qualifications Oneyear of relevant experience working in long-term care or assistedlivingpreferred. | ||
KnowledgeSkillsand Abilities Knowledgeofbasic personal carepracticesincluding hygiene mobility and activities of daily living. Knowledgeof safe medication administration practices including documentation storage and reporting requirements. Skill in measuring and recording vital signs recognizing changes in resident condition and reporting promptly. Understanding ofinfection control safety and universal precaution practices. Clear communication skills for interacting with residents families nursing staff and healthcare providers. Ability tomaintainconfidentiality professional ethics resident rights and professional boundaries. Competence in safe body mechanics and use of assistive equipment forlifting andtransfers. Essential Functions Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders accurately documenting all care provided on medical administration records. Provide orassistresidents with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing dressing grooming toileting feeding mobility and personal hygiene. Maintainsecurity safety and cleanliness of medication carts and medication storage areas reporting discrepancies promptly to the supervisor. Take and record vital signsobserveresidents conditions and report changes in health or behavior to the Assisted Living Coordinator or nursing staff. Assistwith resident meals ensuring proper feeding support and safe dining experiences. Support resident participation in recreational social and therapeutic activities. Follow infection control safety and universal precaution protocols to ensure resident and staff safety. Uphold resident rights confidentiality and professional standards of care. Use safe body mechanics and proper equipment when lifting transferring orassistingresidents. Maintainaccuratetimelydocumentation in resident records and daily logs. Communicate effectively and work cooperatively with residents families visitors and staff. Participatein care planning staff meetings and required training sessions. Assistwith light housekeeping laundry and equipment cleaning as needed tomaintaina safe and comfortable environment. | ||
