ROLE SUMMARY

The Community Schools Coordinator is responsible for the implementation integration alignment and coordination of the California Community Schools Partnership Program (CCSPP) for a participating school site. The CCSPP leads the schools efforts to partner with community agencies and local governments to align community resources to improve scholar outcomes. These partnerships provide an integrated focus on academics health and social services youth and community development and community engagement. The Community Schools Coordinator will ensure all scholars are successful through partnering both internally and externally to coordinate services and resources to support scholar well-being academic exploration and remediation and health. This role will report to the participating school principal and will work closely with the Director Community Schools Initiative on the Alliance Home Office Equity Programs: Scholar Culture Belonging and Equity Team. This is a grant-funded role which is expected to last through June 30 2029.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with school leadership staff families and community stakeholders to assess needs and assets. Develop implement and regularly update a comprehensive Community Schools plan aligned to school goals and the four pillars including progress monitoring and Annual Progress Report (APR) requirements.

  • Build manage and sustain relationships with community-based organizations businesses government agencies and service providers. Establish MOUs coordinate partner roles and align external resources to meet the academic social emotional and basic needs of scholars and families.

  • Coordinate and align wraparound services such as tutoring mental health healthcare enrichment food access college preparation and after-school programs. Ensure scholars and families are connected to appropriate supports that improve well-being engagement and academic success.

  • Strengthen authentic family and community participation by organizing workshops events and leadership opportunities. Promote shared decision-making elevate family voice and foster a welcoming school culture grounded in belonging equity and trust.

  • Oversee the design and execution of programs that advance the four pillars of Community Schools. Ensure initiatives are integrated into the school day and broader school culture in collaboration with administrators and staff.

  • Collect and analyze student family and program data to measure impact identify gaps and inform decision-making. Monitor partner performance track outcomes and adjust strategies to meet evolving needs and ensure effectiveness.

  • Serve as a key liaison between school leadership staff families and community partners. Maintain clear communication build strong relationships across stakeholders address barriers to learning and equity and contribute to a cohesive school-wide Community Schools vision.

  • Identify and secure resourcesincluding grants donations and partnershipsto expand services and ensure sustainability of Community Schools initiatives.

  • Create and implement the community schools plan including tracking program activities synthesizing the schools goals monitoring progress toward outcomes in a timely manner and regularly collecting and updating information to inform the Annual Progress Report.

  • Serve as a bridge between the school and the community it serves by building and maintaining relationships with local organizations businesses government agencies and community members to align the resources and services offered with the needs and aspirations of the community. Integrate effective education college preparation family engagement enrichment and recreation services into the existing school community in order to impact scholar achievement and ensure an impactful community schools model in collaboration with school staff.

  • Identify scholars and families needs and connect them with appropriate services such as counseling healthcare tutoring and after-school programs to improve overall well-being and ability to focus on learning.

  • Facilitate family involvement in their scholars education through organizing workshops meetings and events encouraging parents and guardians to participate in their scholars learning journey.

  • Identify and secure school and community resources such as grants donations and partnerships with local organizations to enhance educational programs provide essential services and create opportunities for scholars and families.

  • Collect data on scholar and community needs and program outcomes to continually assess their effectiveness make informed decisions and adapt their services to meet changing needs.

  • Establish strong productive and trusting relationships with the administrative team school personnel staff scholars and community to seek input on needs and address barriers to learning equity and inclusion.

  • Expertise: Have strong community expertise and in-depth knowledge of effective techniques to bring in and provide resources to the community. Thrive in an environment of high expectations and collaboration.

  • Mindset: Hold a growth mindset and commit to continuously honing their craft.

  • Relationship-Building: Have strong interpersonal communication and relationship-building skills with both children and adults.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors Degree or higher from an accredited college or university.

  • 3 years of progressive professional work experience in a related field ( e.g. academic support mental health afterschool youth development or family support) including at least 1 year of school leadership experience in a public school or public charter school in an urban setting.
