Permanent openings available for the following Special Education Teacher Assistants and Registered Behavior Technicians (RBT): JOB DESCRIPTIONSPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER ASSISTANT/REGISTERED BEHAVIOR TECHNICIAN General Description of DutiesThe Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) provides support to students using behavior management techniques and intervention strategies to reduce behaviors that interfere with the learning process increase alternative adaptive behaviors. The RBT is directly supervised by the building principal the special education teacher and the behavior specialist/related services professional. The RBT performs classroom-based and supervisory duties associated with the classroom. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESAssessmentAssists in conducting functional behavior assessments; Inputs behavior data using the recommended data base system; ManagementCollects data and consistently implements instructional or behavioral plans individually or in groups with fidelity and monitors same under the direction of and as established by the teacher/specialist;Analyzes behavior data with certified staff to report necessary modifications; Alerts teachers to any problems that arise while with the student(s); Intervenes in a calm and timely manner to prevent behaviors from escalating;Assists with all domains of students learning: academic social self-help communication gross motor fine motor activities of daily living including feeding and toileting if needed; Assists Specialists (i.e. occupational therapists physical therapists speech/language therapists social workers psychologists) as needed;Assists with the supervision of students during recess lunch and bus duty and any other time as deemed necessary by the principal; Provides escort and assistance to students as directed by the teacher/principal; CommunicationCommunicates relevant behavior information to teacher/specialist on a daily basis or as needed; Performs any written work under the direct supervision of the teacher/specialist in a timely efficient and accurate manner;Models professional communication and collaborates effectively with professionals students and parents; including selecting and using the appropriate channels for resolving concerns; KnowledgeExhibits knowledge sensitivity and understanding of individual and cultural differences;Understands core underlying principles of applied behavior analysis (ABA);Demonstrates an understanding of and performs duties in conjunction with state and federal laws and regulations and local district and school policies and procedures; Knows how to or is willing to learn and uses all relevant computers and software programs;ResponsibilitiesParticipates in assigned training and seeks out staff development opportunities; Participates in yearly performance goals/or evaluations; Participates in meetings if appropriate as pertains to assigned student caseload; Participates in daily and long range planning prepares and develops various teaching aids in accordance with the teacher/specialist; Respects confidentiality and other professional ethics;Maintains reliable attendance promptness and dependability;Accepts and uses direction and supervision;Provides an appropriate role model for children in areas of dress language and behavior;Maintains appropriate level of professional/personal boundaries with students families and colleagues;Supports a learning environment that encourages appropriate standards of behavior positive social interaction active engagement in learning and self-motivation;Performs and documents district approved physical management or restraint procedures;Possesses CPI certification or must participate in and pass CPI training course within 90 days of appointment;Performs any and all other duties as prescribed by the Principal and/or and/or EXPERIENCEOne to two years related experience and/or training; Associates degree or Bachelors degree (BA) encouraged to apply; Successful completion of the RBT 40-hour course;Willingness to participate in ongoing LICENSES REGISTRATIONSTeaching Assistant Certification Certification Care Training
