Your role as an Audio Technician:
You will be primarily responsible for ensuring audio for Padres games non-baseball events and/or special events held at Petco Park are executed to perfection.
All the responsibilities we will trust you with:
- Exemplifying our Petco Park Promise: CARE CONNECT EXCEED by proactively welcoming all guests to the ballpark and consistently strive to exceed all guests expectations
- Operating various audio mixing boards microphones and speaker setups; controlling audio within the ballpark and event spaces during Padres games special events and/or non-baseball events and working as a team and/or independently on audio setups
- Running mics mic stands stage wedges stage snakes and other cables for opening acts during various events
- Performing line and sound checks before live events to ensure all equipment is working correctly
- Operating control consoles during live events to monitor and adjust audio levels for Band monitors or FOH for the mains
- Collaborating with Padres Front Office employees technical staff vendor representatives and special guests to meet the specific sound requirements for the event while simultaneously maintaining a calm demeanor in a high-paced environment
- Operating and troubleshooting audio issues maintaining audio equipment and keeping detailed inventory of equipment
- Ensuring event or location in ballpark receives the correct audio feed at the preferred volume level
- Performing sound checks for anthems and other musical talent showcased at the ballpark
- Working with Ballpark Management as needed to set up a combination of a local audio system and the house system for various events
- Fulfilling other control room functions/duties as needed for Padres games and in-stadium entertainment and working with the A1 and DJs to offer the best sound experience possible for the fans
- Assuming other responsibilities as assigned by the Vice President of Broadcasting & Presentation Director of Scoreboard Operations Director Event Production & Video Engineering Manager of Engineering and Audio Engineer
- Serving as liaison to provide the Padres with feedback from members of the community at Padres games special events and/or other non-baseball events
- Keeping up with the teams performance on the field current organizational news and demonstrating general baseball and team history knowledge
- Being assigned a variety of tasks and duties including rotation based on departmental needs
Your areas of knowledge and expertise that matter most:
You will be required to meet the following:
- Must be at least 18 years of age by the start of employment
- Bachelors degree preferred; or 4 years experience in equivalent relevant job in audio production entertainment/scoreboard/TV station/hotel control room facility
- Must be available to work flexible hours for a variety of shifts which may include Padres home/road games special events non-baseball events evenings weekends and holidays
- Minimum physical requirements: able to travel to and gain access to various areas of the ballpark for prolonged periods of time; able to lift and transport up to 50 pounds
- As a condition of employment you must successfully complete all post-offerpre-employment requirements including but not limited to a background check
Salary and Additional Compensation:
Per the California pay transparency law the pay rate for this position ranges from $21.14-$42.00 per hour. Part-time non-union employees are subject to the San Diego Living Wage Ordinance and rates will increase accordingly.
