Job Duties
The successful candidate will teach courses primarily in film and television production with an emphasis on both documentary and fictional storytelling. Responsibilities include but are not limited to mentoring students in creative and documentary production work maintaining a creative and/or scholarly agenda in media production participating in departmental and university service and contributing to assessment and accreditation activities.
Minimum Qualifications
1. MFA or Ph.D. in Film/TV Media Production or a closely related field (ABD considered with terminal degree required by the time of appointment).
2. College-level teaching experience in film or TV production.
3. Demonstrated expertise in documentary or fictional film/TV production.
4. Evidence of creative or scholarly work in documentary or fictional storytelling and potential for continued productivity.
5. Teaching and academic expertise that complements existing faculty strengths and supports curricular needs.
Additional Considerations
1. Familiarity with contemporary production tools and techniques (e.g. Adobe Creative Suite DaVinci Resolve).
2. Experience with innovative teaching strategies and curriculum development.
3. Professional experience in film television or digital media.
4. Active involvement in relevant professional organizations (e.g. UFVA BEA NABJ).
5. Strong commitment to student success and the ability to work effectively with students from diverse backgrounds.
6. Excellent communication organizational and interpersonal skills.
