Department Overview

The Sterile Processing Department at Childrens Hospitals and Clinics in Minneapolis performs multiple functions that can be grouped under the following headings: decontamination; instruments and tray assembly; Preparation Packaging and Sterilization; Case Carts Assembly; Ad Hoc Dispensing of Patient Care Supplies; and Equipment Reprocessing Tracking and Dispensing.


Position Summary

Incumbent performs tasks associated with the reprocessing of reusable instruments supplies and equipment. Performs inventory management tasks involving reprocessed and single use equipment and supplies to all departments. The Sterile Processing Technician is thoroughly versed in surgical instrumentation. Supports the mission of Childrens Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota in the care and treatment of patients following established customer service family centered care resource utilization and infection control standards.

One year Central/Sterile Processing experience and/or experience in medical device reprocessing role or similar experience in an operating room.
*Graduate of Central/Sterile Processing Technical College Program and/or certification in sterile processing preferred.
*Requires sufficient familiarity with surgical instruments to be able to assemble surgical trays.
*Inventory management experience preferred.

The posted salary represents a market competitive range based on salary survey benchmark data for similar roles in the local or national market. When determining individual pay rates we carefully consider a wide range of factors including but not limited to market indicators for the specific role the skills education training credentials and experience of the candidate internal equity and organizational needs.

In addition to your salary this position may be eligible for medical dental vision retirement and other fringe benefits. Positions that require night weekend or on-call work may be eligible for shift differentials or premium pay.
