Description
The Housing Advocate for CVOEOs Bridges Recovery Shelter provides direct support and advocacy for individuals experiencing homelessness who are committed to living in recovery from drugs and alcohol. The position integrates housing-focused case management with recovery support and mental health resources in a trauma-informed client-centered environment.
The Housing Advocate works directly with shelter guests to secure safe stable and supportive housing while coordinating with internal staff and community partners to address barriers to recovery employment and wellness. This role is critical to ensuring guests successful transition from shelter to permanent housing and sustained recovery. This position reports to the Bridges Recovery Shelter Director (or Associate Director).
We have openings for the following shifts:
Tuesday - Friday 10:15pm - 8:15am
Friday - Monday 10:15pm - 8:15am

Requirements
- Bachelors degree in Social Work Human Services Counseling Public Administration or related field (Masters preferred) or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 12 years of experience in housing advocacy homelessness services recovery housing and behavioral health.
- Strong knowledge of housing resources homelessness prevention and recovery support services.
- Experience with trauma-informed care recovery-oriented approaches and harm reduction principles.
- Excellent interpersonal advocacy and conflict resolution skills; ability to work effectively with diverse populations including individuals in recovery.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple cases.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; experience with data management systems (e.g. HMIS) preferred.
- Valid drivers license clean driving record and reliable transportation required.
