Job Summary

Job Summary:

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides direct patient care functions under the supervision of a registered nurse performing clerical communication and related duties to facilitate efficient department services. The CNA assists patients with daily living activities collects patient data and communicates patient status to the licensed professional. This role requires a commitment to quality service for patients the public and co-workers.
Location:Chicago Illinois United States
Responsibilities:

- Assists patients in routine activities of daily living including range of motion ambulation positioning skin care linen changes feeding hygiene toileting and incontinent care.
- Collects urine stool and sputum specimens and processes them as needed.
- Obtains and records health data weights vital signs pulse oximetry pain assessment and I&O.
- Communicates patient status and reports changes in patient condition to licensed professionals.
- Performs incentive spirometry and transports patients.
- Prepares rooms and provides post-mortem care.
- Assists with admissions and discharges.
- Assists nurses in emergency situations.
- Maintains and cleans equipment.
- Performs oral and nasopharyngeal suctioning.
- Performs blood sugar finger sticks.
- Removes IV catheters per licensed nurse instruction.
- Performs EKGs (department-specific responsibility).
- Answers unit phones and directs calls.
- Performs data entry into electronic medical database systems and documents patient care.
- Performs selected patient registration activities.
- Coordinates equipment and supply needs and reports malfunctions.
- Performs other related clerical and technical duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Certifications:

- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- CNA license
- AHA BLS Provider CPR certification
Preferred Skills & Certifications:

- Not specified.
Special Considerations:

- Resource must be able to rotate weekends.
- Maximum of 5 days RTO with no more than 2 consecutive days.
- No RTO the day prior to or after a holiday.
- No RTO on weekends.
Scheduling:
- Full-time position.
