This position is open for the 25-26 school year but we are also collecting interest for the 26-27 school your cover letter please indicate when you would be available to Overview: The Special Education Coordinator is a full-time 10-month position reporting directly to the Vice Principal of Academic Affairs. This individual is responsible for leading the organization and implementation of special education and related services provided at Cathedral High School. This educator collaborates with classroom teachers the Student Support Team and families to develop provide and monitor academic support plans that meet the unique needs of Cathedral addition to managing and coordinating external services (i.e. through Boston Public Schools) the Special Education Coordinator will create and provide direct-to-scholar academic service plans at Cathedral. The ideal candidate is an educator with a passion for disrupting inequities through education. They are skilled in leveraging instructional strategies to support teacher practice and creating equitable learning environments that address the needs of all Responsibilities-Create and foster a positive safe and inclusive learning environment -Ensure scholars are supported valued and challenged every day-Use high quality resources research and best practice to inform and develop a robust special education support program including internal and external services teacher development and resource procurement -Collaborate with members of the Student Support Team lending academic lens to tier 2 and 3 support plans and dialogues -Coordinate and maintain relationships with Boston Public Schools Catholic Schools Office and other external service providers to maximize scholar support-Manage all paperwork and scholar records for special education processes both for documentation and organization and for transparency of necessary information across educator team -Provide educational services by both pushing into classrooms and by pulling out scholars for instructional support measuring growth and evaluating current/future needs-Participate in IEP processes from consultation and assessments through to service meetings-Analyze IEP plans and support team in understanding learner needs and educator responsibilities-Communicate with families to support advocacy empowerment and transparency across support plans and processes -Participate in school-wide and individual professional development and collaboration opportunities engage in coaching sessions -Support tutoring efforts and opportunities for all scholars -Perform necessary support duties including but not limited to sub coverageQualifications and Competencies-A deep commitment to equity and a belief in the potential of all students to achieve.-Demonstrated ability to support the achievement and growth of diverse learners in an inclusive environment-Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.-2 years of full-time teaching experience-Bachelors Degree (required) -Masters Degree - Special Education or comparable field (preferred)
