Job Description

We are looking for a Claims Executive to join our team in Piraeus.

Providing Claims service is central to what we do and our Claims Executives handle all types of claims related to P&I risks including people cargo property damage pollution and possibly FDD claims.

As a Claims Executive you will have a high degree of autonomy and will work closely with our Members together with a very competent claims team both in Piraeus and globally.

There is a strong focus in Gard on cross-functional and cross-team collaboration and Claims handlers will liaise with Underwriting in marketing Gards capabilities in the Greek market.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Development of P&I claims (and FDD) handling capacity and capabilities toward relevant Members with a strong focus on service and Member satisfaction.
• Professional and efficient handling of P&I (and FDD) claims in accordance with Gards claims handling instructions and QMS.
• Provide advice to Members on P&I and FDD covers claims handling and loss prevention.
• Prepare reports and ensure compliance with internal and external requirements.
• Close cooperation with colleagues within claims globally and the underwriters of the Members portfolios.
• Participation in Member meetings presentations seminars and market events as well as industry discussions where appropriate.
• Mentoring and training colleagues to increase their P&I (and FDD) claims handling capability.

The person we are looking for has:

• Law degree preferably with a Masters Degree in Maritime Law.
• Working experience of at least three (3) years and a proven track record in handling different types of P&I and FDD claims.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with both colleagues and clients.
• The ability to perform and contribute to a team-oriented environment.
• Motivation to learn as well as to share knowledge.
• The ability to analyse structure and organise tasks and to work independently with a solution and result-oriented mindset.
• Excellent communication skills with written and spoken English being required.
