Job Summary

The Finance & Brand Coordinator plays a strategic role in advancing UMass Auxiliary Enterprises (AE) marketing branding and revenue-growth initiatives. This position blends marketing strategy with cost accounting and financial insight ensuring all campaigns partnerships and brand decisions are guided by measurable performance outcomes.

Reporting to the Director of Residential and Retail Dining Services the Coordinator uses tools such as cost variance analysis margin analysis regression forecasting and demographic modeling to guide decision-making. The role requires a deep understanding of accounting finance consumer behavior and the diverse demographics of the UMass community. The Coordinator ensures AEs brand presence is consistent data-driven and aligned with both student needs and institutional goals.

Essential Functions

  • Conducts cost accounting analytics and regression-based analyses to evaluate campaign performance pricing models student engagement trends and revenue impacts.
  • Assesses the financial viability of marketing campaigns using cost variance insights margin analysis and contribution margin analysis.
  • Evaluates sponsorships vendor agreements and strategic partnerships by assessing ROI financial impact budget-to-actual comparisons and revenue forecasts. Assures financial alignment with AE goals through cost/margin modeling.
  • Supports B2B relationship management by preparing analytics-based reports and presenting partnership performance updates to leadership.
  • Collaborates with graphic design and communications teams to ensure data-driven brand alignment.
  • Develops marketing collateral (flyers banners digital assets) informed by demographic and behavioral insights.
  • Manages AEs social media content strategy scheduling and engagement optimization using analytics.
  • Prepares executive-level marketing and performance reports by synthesizing data from multiple internal and external sources.
  • Conducts competitor benchmarking and support financial planning for marketing initiatives and event strategy.
  • Synthesizes complex data into clear insights for senior leadership developing actionable recommendations for content branding and product strategy.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge Skills Abilities Education Experience Certifications Licensure)

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting Marketing Communications Business Analytics or related field.
  • Experience in marketing brand development or public relations.
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in marketing analytics and data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau Power BI).
  • Familiarity with Google Analytics A/B testing and digital marketing metrics.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in graphic design tools (Adobe Creative Suite Canva).
  • Experience managing social media platforms and analyzing performance metrics.
  • Strong project management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications (Knowledge Skills Abilities Education Experience Certifications Licensure)

  • Experience in higher education or dining services marketing.
  • Advanced skills in SQL Excel (including VBA automation) and data analysis tools.
  • Understanding of digital tools and statistical methods for marketing performance evaluation.
  • Experience applying financial planning and analysis concepts to marketing.
  • Familiarity with website management platforms (e.g. WordPress).
  • Basic video production and editing skills.

Physical Demands/Working Conditions

Typical office environment.


Work Schedule

37.5 hours per week. Monday - Friday 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM. May include weekends and evenings as business needs dictate.
