Job Description

Position: Lab Support Tech - Automation and Immunochemistry

Location: Richmond VA

Department: Automation

Shift: Monday - Friday 8:00AM - 5:00PM

This is a fully onsite role based at our BIOA Laboratory in Richmond VA. We welcome applicants from all locations within the US. Please note that relocation assistance is not provided for this position and any relocation costs will be the responsibility of the candidate. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States withoutsponsorship.Must be able to pass a comprehensive background check whichincludes a drug screening.

Summarized Purpose:

Works with various teams (metrology sample entry stability etc.) and assists in maintenance oflaboratory systems. Supports daily lab operations under the direction of a senior staff member. Performs technical and record keeping duties in conformance with company and regulatory policies andstandards to meet quality and accuracy requirements. Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) andGood Laboratory Practices (GLPs).

Key responsibilities:

  • Understands and conforms to all standard operating procedures methods andprotocols applicable to assigned tasks.
  • Maintains compliant laboratory documentation. Ensures all laboratory equipmentand work areas are clean sterile and in proper working order.
  • Routinely operates laboratory equipment.
  • Communicates task status to laboratory manager or designee.
  • Performs daily work assignments accurately and in a timely manner

Keys to Success

Education and Experience:

  • High / Secondary school diploma or equivalent and relevant formal academic / vocational qualification
  • Technical positions may require a certificate
  • Previous experience that provides the knowledge skills and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 0to 1 year) or equivalent combination of education training & experience.

Years of experience refers to typical years of related experience needed to gain the required knowledge skills and abilities necessary to perform the essential functions of the job. Yearsof experience are not to be used as the only determining factor in establishing the job class or

Working Environment

  • Work is performed in a clinical environment.
  • Exposure to biological fluids with potential exposure to infectious organisms.
  • Frequent mobility required.
  • Occasional crouching stooping bending and twisting of upper body and neck.
  • Moderate lifting (or otherwise movement carrying setting and placement)of 15-30 lbs. with amaximum lift of 35 lbs.
  • Ability to access and use a variety of computer software developed both in-house and off-the-shelf.
  • Ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand; with the ability to listen to
    and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
  • May interact with others relating and gathering sensitive information. Interaction includes diversegroups.
  • Works with guidance or reliance on oral or written instructions from management. May requireperiods of intense concentration.
  • Performs a wide range of variable tasks as dictated by variable demands and changing conditions
    with little predictability as to the occurrence. Ability to perform under stress. Ability to multi-task.
