About the Role
The Prosthetics and Orthotics Department at St Vincents Hospital Melbourne (SVHM) has an exciting opportunity for a motivated dual-practicing clinician to develop their acute patient management skills within a leading tertiary hospital setting.
This supported role is ideally suited to a recent graduate or an early-career clinician seeking to broaden their scope of practice and gain exposure to complex acute and rehabilitation presentations.
Key Responsibilities include:
Delivering best-practice prosthetic and orthotic care with a strong focus on acute inpatient management
Working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to optimise patient outcomes
Assisting in the delivery of the interim prosthetic rehabilitation program
Classification & Remuneration
This position is classified between CO7 CP2 ($70590.00 - $85872.80) with remuneration commensurate with experience.
Your Contribution
Bachelors degree in Prosthetics and Orthotics (or equivalent)
Membership with the Australian Orthotic Prosthetic Association (AOPA)
Current National Criminal History Check or willingness to obtain
Current NDIS Worker Screening Check or willingness to obtain

4. POSITION PURPOSE
To provide evidence based best practice prosthetic and orthotic care to clients within the inpatient andoutpatient services of St Vincents Hospital with a particular focus on acute patient management.
5. POSITION DUTIES
Provide best practice prosthetic and orthotic care with a focus on acute patient management
Complete all manufacturing and technical work associated with the provision of prosthetic andorthotic devices
Support speciality clinics as required including orthopaedic fracture Clinic
Liaise closely with members of the multidisciplinary team to achieve optimal patient outcomes including timely discharge planning
Attend ward rounds and clinic meetings to triage referrals and manage patient flow
Educate and support subacute patients to enable transition to the National Disability InsuranceScheme (NDIS)
Assist with the interim prosthetic rehabilitation program
Contribute to department education and training program

Attend clinical orientation upon commencement
Maintain clinical registration and any required indemnity cover
Always work within approved scope of practice under supervision by more senior clinical staff asappropriate.
Take personal responsibility for the quality and safety of work undertaken
Take all necessary care and precautions when undertaking clinical procedures
Complete annual clinical competencies
Maintain skills and knowledge necessary to safely and skilfully undertake clinical work
Consult with peers and other experts and refer to other healthcare workers when appropriateand in a timely manner
Collaborate and clearly communicate with patients/clients and the healthcare team
Ensure consumers receive information in an appropriate and accessible format
Actively support consumers to make informed decisions about their treatment and ongoing care
Ensure consumers are aware of their rights responsibilities and how to provide feedback
Protect the health and safety of self and others complying with all health and safety relatedpolicies procedures and directions
Complete required Fire and Emergency Training annually
Complete required Workplace Culture and Equity Training annually
Attend general hospital orientation within 3 months of commencement
