Job Summary

Job Title: Behavioral Teacher Assistant (Paraprofessional)Reports to: Campus Administrator and Assigned TeacherAssignment: Campus/GradeWage/Hour Status: Non-Exempt HourlyPay Grade: 187 days $15.25-$20.25 based on related experienceDate Revised: 2025.12.19Terms of Employment:This FLSA non-exempt position (hourly) is on a work calendar of 187 days per school year. Pay is based on years of experience from the annually reviewed hourly employee pay scale. The current year hourly pay scale may be requested from ACA Human Purpose:Under the direction of the classroom teacher the Behavioral Teacher Assistant will provide support to all students including but not limited to students with behavioral issues. The Behavioral Assistant will implement comprehensive positive behavioral support plans and effective behavior management strategies; deliver instructions; participate as a member of the educational team and help design and implement all components of the students school diploma or equivalent. Must be willing to obtain the Educational Aide state certification with a recommendation from the district. Experience working in an educational setting implementing intensive behavioral intervention programs for students with complex and/or severe behavioral problems is :Two years of classroom experience preferredSpecial Knowledge/Skills:Performs arithmetic calculations at the level necessary for satisfactory job to read and comprehend simple instructions short correspondence and memos. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to staff parents students administrators and the to independently problem-solve unique student and employer situations. Ability to understand and carry out detailed written and oral to work with students with disabling conditions. Ability to maintain composure under stressful conditions. Ability to develop effective working relationships with students staff and the community while working as a of basic concepts of child growth and development and developmental behavior characteristics particularly of pupils with special learning needs; behavior management strategies and techniques relating to pupils experiencing behavioral difficulties positive behavioral interventions and applied behavioral analysis. Knowledge of routine record storage retrieval and management to perform other duties as assigned with awareness of all district State and Federal requirements and Board of Director Responsibilities and Duties:(The following statements describe the general purpose and responsibilities assigned and should not be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities skills efforts or working conditions that may be assigned or skills that may be required.)Instructional StrategiesAssist the teacher with the implementation of lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the districts curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as the teacher in preparing lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning with the presentation of subject matter according to guidelines established by the Texas Education Agency board policies and administrative with the appropriate use of instructional and learning strategies activities materials and equipment that reflect an understanding of the learning styles and needs of the students with other members of staff to assist with instructional goals objectives and methods according to district with the use of technology to strengthen the teaching/learning cooperatively with special education teachers as needed for special education Growth and DevelopmentHelp students analyze and improve study methods and the teacher with ongoing assessments of student achievement through formal and informal a positive role model for students and support the mission of the school Management and OrganizationAssist the teacher in creating a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical social and emotional development of student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and Student all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students equipment materials and the teacher in the selection of books equipment and other instructional and maintain open communication by assisting the teacher as requested with conferences with parents students principals and a professional relationship with colleagues students parents and community effective communication skills to present information accurately and Growth and DevelopmentParticipate in staff development activities to improve job-related informed of and comply with state district and school regulations and policies for classroom maintain and file all physical and computerized reports records and other required and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as Responsibilities:NonePhysical Demands and Work Environment: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
