Job Summary

Mergers & Acquisitions Senior Associate

We are seeking an experienced Senior Associate to join a highly regarded Corporate practice in Charlotte with a primary focus on mergers and acquisitions and private equity transactions. This role is designed for a seasoned transactional attorney who is comfortable managing sophisticated deal work taking ownership of complex transactions and playing a leadership role within deal teams.

You will be deeply involved in all phases of M&A and private equity transactions from initial structuring through closing and will work directly with sponsors and other key stakeholders. The position offers significant responsibility meaningful client exposure and the opportunity to mentor junior attorneys while continuing to refine your own deal leadership skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage complex M&A and private equity transactions from inception through closing
  • Draft and negotiate primary transaction documents including purchase agreements and related deal documentation
  • Oversee and execute due diligence workstreams coordinating internal teams and external advisors
  • Prepare and negotiate ancillary transaction documents
  • Supervise mentor and delegate work to junior associates
  • Advise clients with a practical business-oriented mindset across all stages of transactions
  • Manage multiple active matters efficiently while maintaining high-quality work product

What Were Looking For:

  • At least six years of substantive experience in mergers and acquisitions and private equity transactions
  • Proven ability to manage complex deal flow with limited supervision
  • Strong experience independently supervising junior associates and leading transaction workstreams
  • Excellent drafting and negotiation skills across primary and ancillary transaction documents
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to quickly understand and apply commercial and financial concepts
  • Clear confident communicator with strong written and verbal skills
