Out of School Time Activity Leader (Part-Time)

Under the supervision of the Director of Child Care Services the Out of School Time Activity Leader supervises a group of children and program activities in accordance with all policies procedures and standards as established by the law or the Y.

Job Duties:

• Supervises a group of children and program activities.
• Follows all policies procedures and standards as established by the law or the Y (e.g. safety or emergency procedures behavior guidance strategies child abuse prevention policies); all MA Department of EJ:&C regulations; maintains the program site equipment; and required program records.
• Nurtures children through purposeful programming; plans activities that are intended to achieve program goals and outcomes are culturally relevant are developmentally appropriate and are consistent with the Ys values.
• Creates a positive rapport and shared interest with all youth; models relationship-building skills in all interactions.
• Provides opportunities for youth to lead problem-solve and make decisions and choices within the program and provides daily opportunities for youth to reflect on and respond to their experiences.
• Provides and welcomes ongoing dialogue with parents and caregivers about their childs needs and progress; connects families to the Y.
• Project a professional image including neat appearance positive manner and dependable attendance and be a role model for children families and other staff.
• Attends and participates in family nights program activities staff meetings and staff trainings.
• Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent; one year or more of college preferred.
• Previous experience working with children (at least 6 months) required.
• Meets minimum age standards as established by state law and/or the Y.
• CPR First Aid and AED certifications required; or within 60 days of hire.
• Child Abuse Prevention training required within 30 days of hire.
• Previous experience working with diverse populations preferred.
• Ability to develop positive authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds

Schedule: Monday-Friday from 2:00pm to 6:00pm.

Job Type: Part-Time

Pay: $16.00/hr Plus access to YMCA facilities for all YMCA employees Employee Assistance Program and Sick Leave
