Job Summary

Role:

To assist the Credit Union in achieving its Service Mission to deliver Total Member Delight in each and every service interaction with both internal and external members. A key component of this external service is to identify the financial needs of each member and recommend an effective credit union product addition to preserve the credit unions assets by controlling delinquent loan accounts collecting delinquent loan payments and/or recovering collateral.

Responsibilities:

  • Contacts delinquent accounts by phone mail or other means; takes appropriate action to resolve delinquencies and minimize loss to the credit union.
  • Analyzes financial situation of delinquent borrowers; makes recommendations to repossess collateral when other arrangements to bring the loan current are unsuccessful.
  • Maintains accurate files reports and notes on all collections activity.
  • Informs management of trends in loan underwriting contributing to delinquent/charged-off loans including future potential losses to the credit union.
  • Assists with legal proceedings as required including bankruptcy charge-offs and judgements.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge & Skills:

Experience: One year to three years of similar or related experience.

Education: A high school education or GED.

Interpersonal Skills: Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for the purpose of first-level conflict resolution building relationships and soliciting cooperation. Discussions involve a higher degree of confidentiality and discretion requiring diplomacy and tact in communication.

Other Skills: Prior collections or lending experience is required.

Position Type: Full Time

Hours: 40 hours per week

Current Schedule: Monday - Wednesday 8-5 Thursday 9-6 Friday 8-5 or 9-6 when working Saturday and Saturday 9-12 on a rotating basis.

Pay Range: $21.19 - $23.19 per hour. Position also eligible for quarterly incentives and annual bonus.

Actual starting salary will be determined based on skills experience (to the extent relevant) and other job-related factors consistent with applicable law.
