FULL-TIME NON-EXEMPT).This is the highest level of the Collections Maintenance Worker series. Collections I&I Maintenance 3 performs advanced technical and maintenance duties within the Citys wastewater collection system including I&I (Inflow and Infiltration) investigations and abatement. Working with minimal supervision this role is responsible for diagnosing system issues performing preventative and corrective maintenance installing and operating flow monitoring equipment analyzing flow data and working with management to assure proper inventory of parts and materials that are needed are purchased and available for various maintenance projects. The position may serve as a field leader for crews and will be required to be on-call periodically throughout the year.

- Assist in the installation calibration troubleshooting and maintenance of flow monitors pressure recorders and rain gauges.
- Assist in the collection flow monitor and rainfall data to identify I&I trends and target maintenance efforts.
- Tests sewer systems for faulty connections or leaks as well as for illegal connections. Lead or assist with smoke testing dye testing and post-rain inspections of aerial crossings and potential inflow points.
- Operate and analyze CCTV footage to detect cracks blockages collapsed pipes and illegal or faulty connections.
- Use GPS and mobile devices to document field activity and location data.
- Performs GIS work related to the Sanitary Sewer Infrastructure.
- Performs maintenance cleaning and repair duties related to the Citys wastewater collection system.
- Cleans and rods sewer mains and laterals to remove debris from inside pipe. Vacuums debris from lift stations and related structures.
- Performs trenching shoring and backfilling.
- Inspects sewage lift stations on a scheduled basis; reads and records flow meters and gauges; learns to perform servicing and repair of pumps motors valves and other mechanical and electrical equipment including pulling and de-ragging pumps.
- Participates in the removal of weeds and debris from lift stations sewer easements grounds and outfall lines.
- Performs inspection construction maintenance and repair activities of the City infrastructure. Identifies any signs of blockage/debris that may interrupt flow of the sanitary sewer.
- Identifies major problems with pipes including cracks damage holes and collapsed pipe
- Operates specialized vehicles and a variety of light medium and heavy equipment related to the maintenance and repair of the Citys sewer collection system.
- Operates jack hammer and hand power tools.
- Sets traffic control including safety devices signs and barricades; ensures safety of public and work crew.
- Provides courteous customer service responding to questions and inquiries from the public; responds to customer problems or issues and facility repair.
- Contacts the public to inform them of activities and shutdowns; explains applicable rules and regulations
- Installs barricades and routes traffic in a safe manner
- Maintains records of basic operations maintenance and work performed.
- Maintains public facilities shop and garage areas storage sites and other work areas in a clean and orderly condition including securing equipment at the close of the workday.
- Attends and or participates in required training.
Typical Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required. Valid Tennessee Drivers License required.
- Must have a minimum of 3 years experience and work towards obtaining a valid Grade II Wastewater Collection System Certificate issued by the Tennessee Department Environment and Conservation (TDEC).
