About the position

Are you eager to work with private equity and debt investments in Southern Africa driving meaningful change in some of the worlds most challenging markets

We are seeking a commercially savvy results-driven and collaborative professional with a strong interest in impact investing and active ownership to join our Agribusiness & Manufacturing team within Scalable Enterprises in South Africa.

Our Agribusiness & Manufacturing team invests in manufacturing businesses and companies in the food and agriculture value chain.

The successful candidate must have a proven track record of working both in teams and independently and be a value additive resource for others in our investment will be included in the project teams on a range of investments and will report to the Regional Director for Southern Africa.

Responsibilities and task

  • Lead investment projects independently managing all stages from deal origination due diligence transaction execution portfolio management and exit for projects in our core countries in Southern Africa
  • Independently manage own portfolio and direct team members involved in its execution
  • Source identify and conduct detailed appraisals of investment proposals focusing on valuation risk mitigation and strategic alignment
  • Prepare and evaluate internal investment documentation and presentation of these materials to the investment committee and board
  • Oversee project support resources ensuring alignment with project objectives and timelines
  • Structure and negotiating deals ensuring alignment with strategic goals and risk management
  • Serve as the main point of contact for high-level stakeholders such as project partners and co-investors
  • Monitor market trends to identify and develop new investment opportunities across core countries in Southern Africa within the Agribusiness & Manufacturing space
  • Update the portfolio management system including tracking portfolio performance and managing the preparation of investment and portfolio reviews

Qualifications and personal qualities

  • 7 years of relevant experience within agribusiness manufacturing or similar
  • Masters in finance economics business or equivalent with a strong academic record
  • Full proficiency in English.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with a track record of managing project teams and coaching junior colleagues
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to clearly convey investment strategies and analysis to the investment committee and external stakeholders
  • Result oriented and with a structured proactive and efficient work style
  • A team player with strong analytical skills great attention to detail and good interpersonal skills
