In NC we operate three pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities that are responsible for fulfilling different steps in our injectable and oral treatment supply chains. Our newer Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API) facility in Clayton NC sits on 825000 square-feet of state-of-the-art equipment and houses the Fermentation Recovery and Purification in the production of ingredients for Novo Nordisks innovative oral products. The Position

Calibrate maintain and repair measuring equipment on schedule & in accordance with corporate & local requirements. Supports coordination and planning for successful execution of work. Provide troubleshooting problem solving & project support for measuring equipment site-wide.

Relationships

Reports to Manager.

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for execution of planned/unplanned calibrations & preventative maintenance of measuring equipment
  • Calibrates & repairs instrumentation such as: temperature pressure conductivity flow level humidity pH ORP ozone O2 UV TOC particle monitoring speed mass & electrical measuring equipment
  • Installs connects wiring configures downloads programs & tests measuring instruments & critical safety devices
  • Executes work according to schedule & department plan while supporting Metrology Planner in planning for completion of calibrations
  • Accurately & legibly records all activities in appropriate documentation including issues completes & approves work orders as required while maintaining equipment master data
  • Accurately performs complex mathematical calculations relating to calibrations
  • Operates & handles calibration working standards with care & expertise in accordance with local requirements
  • Attains & maintains required training & safety certifications by maintaining training qualifications on time and administering training qualifications to others for certain job tasks
  • Identifies & initiates deviations and/or failures per proper procedures while also participating in systematic problem solving and supporting cross-functional investigations in all customer areas
  • Evaluates measuring equipment performance & responds to potential issues
  • Provides support to operations & process owners for measuring equipment
  • Process confirms calibration activities are performed per standards & contributes to KPI reporting
  • Follow all safety & environmental requirements in the performance of duties
  • Other duties as assigned

Physical Requirements

Moves equipment &/or supplies weighing up to 33 pounds within the facility using various body positions. Routinely operates & inspects manufacturing equipment using hands. Ability to be on feet for up to a 12-hour shift. May require corrected vision to 20/25 based on role. May require color vision based on role. Occasionally ascends/descends a ladder. May be required to work at elevated heights. Occasionally works around odorous &/or hazardous materials. May be required to wear latex gloves. Occasionally performs critical job functions in extremely cold work environments. Occasionally positions oneself within confined spaces for inspection repair & maintenance of equipment. Ability to work in loud noise environments with hearing protection. Occasionally works in outdoor weather conditions. Able to pass a driving exam for powered industrial trucks. Does not require a valid drivers license.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree in a relevant field of study or technical concentration from an accredited university required
  • May consider a High School Diploma (GED) with a minimum of five (5) years of relevant metrology/calibration work experience or relevant technical experience in a manufacturing environment required
  • Minimum of three (3) years of relevant metrology/calibration work experience or relevant technical experience in a manufacturing environment required
  • Knowledgeable of Calibration Instrumentation & Controls Electro-Mechanical systems & Electronics which operate in conjunction with communication protocols such as HART DeviceNet Modbus Ethernet etc. preferred
  • Experience using computerized calibration management systems such as SAP Blue Mountain RAM ProCal MAXIMO etc. preferred
  • Familiar with Distributed Control System (e.g. DeltaV SCADA) use and functionality preferred
  • Able to interpret & apply P&IDs schematics wiring diagrams & other technical documents preferred
  • Experience working in a team environment with excellent communication and organizational skills required
  • Demonstrates logical planning for task execution & follow-up preferred
  • Demonstrates a systematic approach to problem solving & troubleshooting preferred
  • Experience in pharmaceutical based GMP manufacturing operations preferred
  • Basic computer skills preferred
