JOB PURPOSE
We are looking for an enthusiastic and creative assistant editor to run a stable of daily news newsletters that showcase the best of the BBCs journalism in the UK and around the world. Its a job for someone with considerable experience in newsletters - equally comfortable with commissioning writing and editing news and feature copy as with curation of content data analysis and team management.

Our newsletter strategy is key to doing so. As assistant editor on the Newsletters team you will play a key role in innovative digital storytelling providing audiences with more original reporting and a rich perspective on current events.
YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITES AND IMPACT
- Use your considerable experience in newsletter journalism to deliver a number of news-focused emails for a UK and global audience.
- Manage a team of newsletter writers and work with editors across BBC News to ensure newsletters are published on deadline and to the highest standard.
- Drive continuous innovation by experimenting with subjects and formats and finding creative ways to produce habit-forming journalism and features.
- Build a close working relationships in News Marketing Product and Studios to maximise the reach and potential of our newsletters.
- Provide expert insight into the competition audience needs and behaviours.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE KEY CRITERIA
- Experience as an editor with a track record of commissioning and editing UK and international news and current affairs for newsletter and/or digital audiences.
- Excellent writing and editing skills and experience of taking difficult editorial decisions quickly and independently.
- Solid understanding of audiences and the newsletter market and a proven track record of using analytics to shape decisions.
- Understanding of how newsletters can fit into the wider BBC output and a strategy on how we should use them to grow our newsletter audience.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills and the ability to inspire a team.
