Job Summary
Title: Electrical / Mechanical Engineer Automation / Plastics Equipment
Location: MO
Type: Full-Time
Position Overview:
A leading automation company (specializing in custom machinery for the plastics processing industry) is seeking a multi-disciplinary Electrical / Mechanical Engineer to join their engineering team. You will design and develop custom downstream plastics equipment including surface treaters trimming machines conveyor systems and more. Youll play a key role in both new product development and the improvement of existing systems.
What Youll Do:
Design mechanical systems for custom plastic processing equipment using CAD (SolidWorks).
Develop and program PLC-based control systems for automation.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to prototype and build machines.
Perform testing commissioning and troubleshooting on mechanical and electrical systems.
Provide on-site startup support and field service when needed.
Create documentation: schematics BOMs test protocols and user manuals.
Drive continuous improvement through design reviews cost optimization and risk analysis.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience in Mechanical Electrical Mechatronics or closely related engineering field.
Hands-on experience programming and commissioning PLC systems.
Proficiency in SolidWorks (or equivalent CAD).
Mechanical design experience (machine design mechanisms sheet metal).
Strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities.
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
Willingness to travel for commissioning/startup support.
Prior experience in the plastics industry (especially downstream blow molding trimming or surface treatment) is highly preferred.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with plasma or corona surface treatment.
Knowledge of downstream blow molding equipment (spin trimmers deflashers takeaways).
Familiarity with industrial safety compliance and certification standards.
Project management experience.
