Position Overview:
A leading automation company (specializing in custom machinery for the plastics processing industry) is seeking a multi-disciplinary Electrical / Mechanical Engineer to join their engineering team. You will design and develop custom downstream plastics equipment including surface treaters trimming machines conveyor systems and more. Youll play a key role in both new product development and the improvement of existing systems.


What Youll Do:

  • Design mechanical systems for custom plastic processing equipment using CAD (SolidWorks).

  • Develop and program PLC-based control systems for automation.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to prototype and build machines.

  • Perform testing commissioning and troubleshooting on mechanical and electrical systems.

  • Provide on-site startup support and field service when needed.

  • Create documentation: schematics BOMs test protocols and user manuals.

  • Drive continuous improvement through design reviews cost optimization and risk analysis.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience in Mechanical Electrical Mechatronics or closely related engineering field.

  • Hands-on experience programming and commissioning PLC systems.

  • Proficiency in SolidWorks (or equivalent CAD).

  • Mechanical design experience (machine design mechanisms sheet metal).

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities.

  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).

  • Willingness to travel for commissioning/startup support.

  • Prior experience in the plastics industry (especially downstream blow molding trimming or surface treatment) is highly preferred.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with plasma or corona surface treatment.

  • Knowledge of downstream blow molding equipment (spin trimmers deflashers takeaways).

  • Familiarity with industrial safety compliance and certification standards.

  • Project management experience.
