The City of Coppells Public Works Department is looking for dedicated hands-on professionals to join our Utility Line Services Team as a Maintenance Worker I. In this critical frontline role youll help maintain and protect Coppells water and wastewater systems while serving the community as a trusted first responder.
From repairing hydrants and valves to responding to emergency sewer backups no two days are the same. This opportunity is ideal for someone who takes pride in physical work values teamwork and wants to make a visible meaningful impact in the community every day.

Schedule Commitment
Regular attendance is an essential job function and employment duties are routinely performed in 10-hour shifts Monday through Thursday or Tuesday through Friday with additional hours as needed on call. This position does not include any supervisory or budgetary responsibilities.Pay Plan
This opportunity is non-exempt and on Pay Grade #4.The full Pay Grade Range is shown for growth and development opportunities within the grade.Salary determination is supported by budget availability and qualifications of the candidate to maintain internal equity.
Hiring Range: $18.26 - $22.14Candidate Engagement PlanMin$18.26 ($37972)
Mid $22.36 ($46507)
Max $26.46 ($55041)

Experience Maintenance Worker I: High School Diploma/GED No experience required; 6-12 months experience preferred. Valid State of Texas Drivers License with a good driving Record Ability to obtain a Class D Water Operator or Wastewater Collections I License from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality within 6 months of employment.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Knowledge of mechanics and basic hand tools is required. Ability to work closely with others as part of a team responsible for providing public service to the City and its citizens. Ability to perform tedious and exacting work as well as multiple tasks simultaneously in dangerous noisy and distracting environments under time pressures. Tasks frequently subject this employee to safety risks related to operating in or around traffic zones and occasional emergency situations. Ability to perform many physically demanding tasks which involve a high degree of concern for personal safety and the safety of coworkers citizens and other individuals. Ability to effectively communicate and interact with coworkers and members of the general public using the English language verbally on a daily basis is essential.
