FL-DCF-Chattahoochee-FSH-Mental Rehabilitation Therapist (788549)

Pay rate: $32.96 per hour.

Temp(6 months).

Job location: Florida State Hospital Chattahoochee FL.

Hours:Full-time (40 hours per week).

This is a State of Florida Psychiatric Hospital which operates 24/7 7 days a week. It currently has 223 buildings on campus with a capacity of 1334 patients. Some patients as young as 13 yrs old. The hospitals current Administration Building is on the National Register of Historic Places.

Types of patients:Two categories of patients are treated at the hospital; those civilly committed under Statute 394 who represent a small portion of the hospitals residents; and those forensically committed under Statute 916. The Civil portion of the hospital houses adult and elderly individuals who have been civilly committed to the hospital and forensic residents who have been stepped down to the civil unit. The civil units are also known as Forensic Transition ward entry has security guards and a metal detector. Most patients are ambulatory young adults age 20-25. Facility also has a small geriatric dorm.

Orientation:No call outs during orientation will be accepted. Restarting NEO or the ability to continue will be at the facilitys discretion. NEFSHwill provide all required in-house training (MANDT CPR etc.) during the firsttwo weeks of orientationfollowing hire.

Leave requests:Once staff begin employmentno leave requests will be accepted during the first eight (8) weeks of employment.

Professional conduct:Facial piercings and cell phone usagearenot permitted on any living area or during orientation. They will be dismissed.

Driving requirement:All applicants have a valid drivers license in case if they are asked to transport patients.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for providing structured therapeutic activities designed to enhance the overall well-being functioning and engagement of our patient population.
  • Conducts patients intake.
  • Assesses patients needs and resources.
  • Performs follow-up and maintains patient contact through unit visits.
  • Interviews counsels and evaluates patients to determine individual therapeutic activity needs.
  • Consults with other professionals and recovery team members concerning recommended programs.
  • Prepares reports on patients progress and their reactions to various activities.
  • Evaluates rehabilitation therapy programs and makes recommendations for adjustment and revisions.
  • Determines existing problems and evaluates individual needs for achieving independence in daily living in acquiring communication skills and/or obtaining suitable employment.
  • Performs related work as required.

Qualifications:

  • Hold a Valid Floridas drivers license and pass a level 2 background.
  • A bachelors degree from an accredited college or university with a major in nursing education or a social behavioral or rehabilitative science.
  • Knowledge of various computer programs to include Microsoft Word.
  • Ability to develop treatment and rehabilitation programs.
  • Ability to follow through on all phases of the diagnosis treatment and rehabilitation of residents.
