Job Summary

The Finance Intern assists with various tasks that support the organizations financial operations. They help prepare and analyze financial reports maintain accurate records and assist in budgeting and forecasting processes. The intern may also work on reconciliations data entry and research to support audits or financial planning. This role provides hands-on experience applying accounting and finance principles learned in coursework strengthening technical and analytical skills in a professional setting.

The internship is expected to begin June 2026 and will run through August 2026. This is an hourly position working up to 25 hours per week.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists with preparation of audit workpapers and journal entries for various accounts including: payroll accruals benefit allocations travel-related accounts and internal chargebacks.
  • Assists with bank reconciliations.
  • Assists with account reconciliations.
  • Assists with accounts receivable.
  • Creates and enters general ledger journal entries.
  • Assists with the preparation of board-related financial reports.
  • Assists with the implementation of the board-approved budget through the Bars BI software.
  • Assists with the monthly variance analysis reporting.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Year 1 college-level accounting or finance coursework.
  • Basic excel skill level.
  • Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills. Must work well in a team environment and be able to interact including in-person with Bar members volunteers vendors the public and Bar employees.
  • Ability to handle and maintain the confidentiality of highly sensitive information.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Year 2 college-level accounting or finance coursework.
  • Intermediate excel skill level.
  • Experience with Microsoft suite of software (Word Excel PowerPoint).
  • Experience with business intelligence software.

This position is currently a hybrid position with days worked in the office and days worked remotely. The hybrid status of this position may change at any time subject to the Bars discretion.
