Duty Schedule:

Monday - Friday - schedule will be coordinated by the faculty for Biology Lab work.

Summary/Objective of Position:

  • Assist in preparing materials and equipment for laboratory experiments and demonstrations.
  • Set up and maintain laboratory equipment as required.
  • Monitor and restock laboratory supplies and materials.
  • Clean and maintain the laboratory including washing glassware and ensuring a safe organized environment.
  • Support faculty with laboratory sessions and related instructional activities.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Must be currently enrolled and in good academic standing (GPA of 2.5 or higher).
  • Background in biology and chemistry required.

  • The lab is seeking a student assistant for Spring 2026. The student should have a background in biology and chemistry and will assist with laboratory maintenance experiment preparation and safety support.
  • Responsibilities:
    • Assist in preparing instructions and materials used during laboratory experiments and demonstrations.
    • Help set up laboratory equipment needed for experiments.
    • Monitor laboratory supplies and assist with restocking or preparing supply requests as needed.
    • Clean the lab area and wash glassware used by students.
    • Return all reagents and equipment to their designated places after each lab session.
    • Promote and maintain safe practices and behavior in the laboratory.
    • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow safety protocols.
    • Good organizational and time management skills.
    • Ability to work collaboratively with faculty and peers.
  • Learning Opportunities:
    • This position provides hands-on experience in laboratory operations and management helping students develop technical and organizational skills. Working closely with faculty offers valuable preparation for advanced coursework and future studies in science-related fields.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience

Minimum:

  • Applicants must have a background in biology and chemistry and demonstrate familiarity with basic laboratory procedures and safety practices.

Preferred:

  • The Department is seeking a motivated and detailed-oriented student to assist in laboratory operations during the Spring Semester 2026.
  • The Laboratory Assistant will support faculty and staff in preparing materials maintaining equipment and ensuring a safe and organized lab environment.

Knowledge:

  • The student should have a background in biology and chemistry and will assist with laboratory maintenance experiment preparation and safety support.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
  • Dependability and commitment to maintaining a safe and efficient laboratory environment.

Skills:

  • Help set up laboratory equipment needed for experiments.
  • Monitor laboratory supplies and assist with restocking or preparing supply requests as needed.
  • Clean the lab area and wash glassware used by students.
