Primary Purpose:
Under general supervision perform skilled work in repair of custodial equipment and structures throughout the district. Maintain custodial equipment parts warehouse and equipment in an attractive and safe manner
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
High School diploma or GED (preferred)
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Able to read and understand instructions for cleaning and maintenance or equipment. Knowledge of repair of small machinery Ability to operate cleaning equipment and lift heavy equipment Physical ability to perform duties (lifting 50 ponds required) Ability to properly handle cleaning supplies
Possess the ability to work cooperatively with staff
Possess maturity to be conscientious employee and able to communicate with others
Follow oral and written instructions.
Bilingual preferred. (English/Spanish)
Experience: One year experience within VISD or other public school system

None
Mental/Physical/Environmental Demands:
Tools/Equipment Used: All custodial equipment and batteries hand tools vacuums buffers hand sanders air compressor and others.
Posture/Motion/Lifting Frequent lifting of machinery bending reaching. Ability to use hand tools. Work in tiring and uncomfortable positions; outside and inside
Environment exposure to hot and cold temperatures and excessive noises.
Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress; communicate effectively and professionally at all times
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Repair custodial equipment
2. Transport repaired/broken equipment to campuses or Maintenance.
3. Load/unload trailer to transport equipment or materials to campuses or Maintenance.
4. Disposition of equipment and chemicals.
5. Assist labor force on campuses as needed.
6. Purchase parts and supplies.
7. Follow safety rules and procedures.
8. Attend monthly head custodian meetings.
9. Attend annual training meetings.
10. Maintain good driving record.
11. Perform other duties as assigned
