Pathways 2 Solutions Inc. (Pathways) a government programs and solutions firm in TN is looking for an experienced (7 years) people operations professional to join our Finance team.

Pathways is seeking a dynamic Finance Operations Manager to lead the development of its Finance Operations function. This is a remote work role with periodic travel requirements. The ideal candidate will build infrastructure and programs that support a distributed workforce aligned to federal contracting standards.
Heres what you would do on a day-to-day basis:
  • Act as the primary to coordinate financial operations.
  • Schedule and manage month-end and year-end close activities.
  • Reconcile general ledger (GL) accounts and investigate variances to ensure accurate final reporting for Pathways.
  • Maintain and update rolling revenue headcount and cash flow forecasts.
  • Translate contract pipeline data into financial projections.
  • Prepare variance analyses and brief leadership on key financial drivers and mitigation strategies.
  • Monitor compliance with FAR DFARS and DCAA standards related to timekeeping billing structures and indirect cost allocations.
  • Prepare and submit incurred cost submissions (ICS) and provisional billing rate packages as required.
  • Generate and submit compliant invoices for cost-plus T&M and fixed-price (FFP) contracts.
  • Track Days Sales Outstanding (DSO) follow up on receivables and engage government contracting officers to resolve delays.
  • Collaborate with proposal and capture teams to develop accurate pricing models labor categories and overhead cost estimates.
  • Draft compliant cost narratives for bid submissions that anticipate audit scrutiny.
  • Produce monthly financial dashboards summarizing profit and loss (P&L) indirect rate performance and cash runway.
  • Maintain documentation to support internal controls audit readiness and cost-allowability defensibility.

Other Duties & Responsibilities
  • Develop and refine internal financial policies procedures and SOPs tailored to a federal contracting environment.
  • Serve as a financial advisor to the CEO and leadership team supporting strategic decisions with accurate real-time financial insights.
  • Identify and mitigate financial risks across projects and company operations.
  • Ensure proper segregation of duties ethical standards and documentation in line with government audit requirements.
  • Support audits and reviews conducted bygovernment entities.
  • Stay current with changes to federal procurement and cost-accounting regulations and advise leadership on implications.
  • Leading others While this position does not currently have any direct reports influencing leaders and colleagues is expected.
This role is a good fit for someone with the following qualifications and skills:
  • Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or a related field (CPA or CMA strongly preferred).
  • 7 years of experience in federal government contracting including hands-on work with FAR/DFARS and indirect rate development.
  • Expertise in accounting systems such as QuickBooks Sage or similar ERP tools.
  • Advanced spreadsheet and financial modeling skills (Excel or Google Sheets).
  • Experience managing vendor relationships and communicating financial data to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational and remote communication skills across tools like Zoom Slack and asynchronous platforms.
  • Ability to work independently manage competing deadlines and operate in a high-compliance environment.
  • Experience in working with Federal Government clients such as the VA SBA and DoD etc.
  • Highly organized action-oriented and collaborative with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with computer and database applications (Excel Word PowerPoint).
  • Ability to interpret FAR labor category and contract-compliance requirements.
  • Exceptional organizational problem-solving and interpersonal skills; able to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-growth environment.
