DescriptionPosition Summary
The AME Advanced Manufacturing Leader is part of the global Advanced Manufacturing Engineering team that executes the strategy and vision of Garrett product manufacturing defining the processes methods and standards applied across plants.
She/He is responsible for defining the manufacturing processes of Garrett Zero Emission Technologies (ZET) electric inverters and controllers SMT processes and PCB assemblies.
This role leads Manufacturing Readiness Level deliverables through the NPI process with support from technology experts and manages the ontime development validation and delivery of new manufacturing capabilities with the plant manufacturing engineering team.
Key Job Areas of Responsibility
2.1 New Product Introduction (NPI)
- Drive ontime publication of Manufacturing Readiness Level (MRL) deliverables through NPI Phase 16 and establish initial risk assessment on new inverter manufacturability; track progress and updates through all NPI phases in collaboration with Advanced Technology leaders for any new technology introduction (module lead application).
- Support NPI teams and Engineering to capture new technologies in NPI Ph16 and consolidate requirements.
- Attend first prototype build events and report manufacturing roadblocks and opportunities for product design improvements.
- Attend Phase Exits and Manufacturing Readiness Reviews with Product Engineering and Product Assurance.
- Drive Make analysis; summarize Manufacturing Plans (process flow KPIs) and consolidate Capex needs (equipment tooling).
- Drive initial creation of generic Process FMEA evaluate risks and define action plans to reduce RPN scores.
- Validate ODT & PPAP results.
- Support definition and maintenance of documentation for technology systems and processes (Process Instructions Quality Control Inspection).
- Update Design for Manufacturing (DFM) guidelines for new technologies.
2.2 Manufacturing Processes Development
- Cooperate with Advanced Technology Leaders to define the manufacturing equipment and processes for electric inverters assembly SMT processes and PCB assemblies.
- Define specification books for new manufacturing line introductions and line upgrades.
- Drive manufacturing line development with suppliers ensure design reviews and validate equipment through acceptance test phases.
- Conduct handover with plant Manufacturing Engineering and NPI teams by supporting installation commissioning and validation of new processes.
- Support AME Technical Managers in defining the strategy & vision over AOP and STRAP by proposing technical roadmaps & related capital investment.
- Drive global standardization of manufacturing processes with plants.
- Define & implement projects to improve HSE quality equipment efficiency and productivity using a Lean mindset.
- Support panel supplier strategy for equipment purchase and implementation.
- Support Garrett plants as a technical professional to resolve recurrent issues on processes equipment tools quality HSE and NPI.
Education / Qualifications
- M.S. in Manufacturing Engineering or Electronics Engineering specialized in SMT production.
- Six Sigma Green Belt certification (minimum).
- Lean Expert or Black Belt certification (preferred).
Experience
- Minimum 10years as manufacturing or qualityengineer in SMT industry and assembly processes for inverters ECUs or control units
- Qualified experience with ISO 26262 Functional Safety audits Technical cleanliness in Assembly audits per VDA19 / ISO 16232 Calibration & Certification of test instruments.
- Familiar with automotive IATF 16949 certification process
- Experience as Adhesive Bonding coordinator per ISO 21368 is a plus
- Ability to develop an effective project plan and control strategy for own work.
- Experience with crossfunctional interactions in multiskilled multicultural organizations.
Key Skills and Knowledge
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes: Assembly Screwing PCB assembly Heat stacking Selective Soldering (iron laser) Reflow Soldering Sintering Bending and Cutting Conformal Coating PCB Cleaning Resistance Welding Adhesive Dispensing and Curing Electrical Testing Traceability Quality Control Digital Factory.
- Up to 20% travel to plants/suppliers.
- Proficient with program management tools (project tracking planning).
- Strong English written and oral communication skills; able to interact across disciplines and levels.
