Understands and articulates the business case for data engineering solutions and the estimated value delivered by robust data pipelines and infrastructure. Designs builds and maintains scalable data pipelines ETL processes and data integration workflows to support analytics reporting and business intelligence needs. Identifies trends and patterns in data architecture and recommends improvements to optimize data flow storage and processing.

  • Collaborates with data analysts data scientists and other stakeholders to ensure data availability quality and reliability for downstream analytics and visualization.
  • Implements and manages data extraction transformation and loading (ETL) processes using appropriate tools and programming languages.
  • Ensures data quality through validation cleansing and monitoring and develops automated solutions for data integrity and consistency.
  • Researches and applies best practices in data engineering including continuous improvement in data modeling pipeline automation and cloud-based data solutions.
  • Works with cross-functional teams to enhance the usability security and performance of data platforms and analytics solutions deployed in the organization.
  • Translates business needs into technical specifications for data infrastructure and evaluates existing systems to recommend and implement improvements.
  • Develops and maintains documentation for data flows systems and processes to support effective data management and compliance.
  • Provides technical support and training for data platform users including the development of self-serve data tools and resources for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Completes complex and diverse data engineering tasks within established guidelines including troubleshooting and resolving escalated data issues.
  • Analyzes data-related issues and determines next steps for resolution and optimization.
  • Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed.

Qualifications:

Foundational level of proficiency:

  • Data pipeline design and optimization
  • ETL development and orchestration
  • Systems thinking and data architecture
  • Data modeling and warehousing
  • Programming (e.g. Python SQL SAS)
  • Cloud data platforms (e.g. AWS GCPAzure)
  • Problem solving and analytical skills
  • Collaboration and communication skills
  • Organization and documentation skills
  • Typically between 23 years of relevant experience and a post-secondary degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Specialized knowledge in data engineering tools frameworks and best practices.

Salary:

$38500.00 - $71000.00

The above represents BMO Financial Groups pay range and type.

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location skills experience education and qualifications for the role and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Groups expected target for the first year in this position.

BMO Financial Groups total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives discretionary bonuses as well as other perks and rewards.
