Job Summary

The Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems ISE in Freiburg is the largest solar research institute in Europe. Our approximately 1400 employees work for a sustainable economic secure and socially just energy supply system based on renewable energies. We contribute to this with our main research areas of energy supply energy distribution energy storage and energy use. Through outstanding research results successful industrial projects company spin-offs and global collaborations we are shaping the sustainable transformation of the energy system.


For our group Solar Building Envelopes we are looking for a research assistant to start on 01.02.2024.

Do you want to be part of a highly motivated group and actively shape the energy transition Then lets contribute with simulations around the topic of building-integrated PV (BIPV) so that BIPV becomes a respected aesthetically pleasing and functional mass product.

Hier sorgst Du für Veränderung

  • You support the development and optimisation of BIPV simulations

  • You carry out simulations independently evaluate and visualise the results e.g. for industry enquiries or projects on these topics

  • Your work is part of anEU project about integrated photovoltaics with 20 international partners

Hiermit bringst Du Dich ein

  • You are enrolled as a student in architecture or civil engineering electrical engineering construction management or building physics or have a background in supply engineering mechanical engineering physics or computer science

  • You have good programming skills preferably in Python

  • You have knowledge in the field of photovoltaics

  • Knowledge of the use of CAD software is desirable

  • Knowledge of data visualization and the use of Linux is desirable

  • You work independently in a structured and committed manner and are happy to contribute your own ideas

Die Vergütung richtet sich nach dem Abschlussgrad der Hochschulausbildung. Die monatliche Arbeitszeit soll 60-80 Stunden betragen.
