Accounting Supervisor – Multi-Unit Retail

Position Overview

We are a multi-unit retail organization seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee core accounting functions with a focus on cash operations payroll accounting and management reporting. This is a hands-on leadership role for a self-starter who is comfortable working in a fast-paced cash-intensive retail environment and collaborating closely with operations and one other part-time accounting clerk subordinate.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee cash receipts cash controls and daily cash management across multiple retail locations
• Lead cash planning and forecasting including short- and medium-term cash flow projections
• Perform and review bank reconciliations accounts payable reconciliations and other financial system controls
• Manage payroll processing and payroll accounting ensuring accuracy and compliance
• Supervise accounting staff and ensure timely accurate completion of assigned duties
• Prepare and review management reporting including store-level performance cash flow and variance analysis
• Support month-end close activities related to cash payroll and retail operations
• Maintain and strengthen internal controls and accounting procedures
• Partner with operations and leadership to support business planning and decision-making

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience in a supervisory accounting role with payroll processing responsibilities
• Prior experience in retail multi-unit or cash-intensive environments strongly preferred
• Strong working knowledge of cash management payroll accounting and financial reporting
• Proficiency required in Excel Google Sheets and QuickBooks Enterprise Gusto Payroll
• Candidates will be tested to assess skill level
• Highly organized detail-oriented and able to manage multiple priorities
• Excellent communication skills to communicate with vendors management employees and tax officials
• Self-starter with the ability to work independently and proactively
• Reliable transportation required to commute to Uptown Oakland

Work Schedule

• On-site in Uptown Oakland 4 days per week

Compensation & Benefits

• Compensation: $85000 $100000 per year based on experience and qualifications.
• Two (2) weeks of paid vacation annually
• Sick leave and other benefits in accordance with California state and local regulations
