Are you fascinated by multiphysics challenges in high-tech systems Join us to develop advanced modeling tools that unlock breakthroughs in electromagnetic sensing and photonic integration for next-generation applications.
High-tech electromagnetic detection and sensory applications are increasingly influenced by multiphysics phenomena. While these effects were once considered noise advances in sensor miniaturization and sensitivity have made them integral to performance. Rather than mitigating these influences new opportunities arise to exploit multiphysics interactions for enhanced sensitivity and broader applicability. Similarly photonic integrated systems where electronics and photonics converge for applications such as optical signal routing in large-scale server networks face challenges in thermal management due to temperature-sensitive components like lasers and nonlinear devices. Addressing these challenges requires innovative modeling tools that combine efficiency with accuracy bridging the gap between general-purpose multiphysics platforms (e.g. COMSOL) and fast electromagnetic solvers. This position aims to develop advanced modeling frameworks for multiphysics systems enabling breakthroughs in high-tech and healthcare applications.
The position is embedded within the Electromagnetics (EM) group of the Electrical Engineering Department at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e). The EM group is internationally recognized for its expertise in electromagnetic theory modeling and applications. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams and research centers such as the Center for Wireless Technology (CWTe) and the Center for Care and Cure (C3Te) as well as groups specializing in Integrated Circuits (IC) Signal Processing Systems (SPS) Electro-Optical Communications (ECO) and Photonic Integration (PhI). This collaborative environment fosters innovation across domains ensuring strong ties between fundamental research and industrial application.
