About the Role

AsAssociate Director Computational Biology you willlead adiverse team of technical expertsdeveloping and applyingcutting-edgequantitative approaches todrive therapeuticdiscovery. Our innovative platformleveragesadvanced computational techniques starting with patient datato bring better medicines to patients faster. Youand your team willapply and extend our platformtouncover causal biology driving diseaseand treatment outcomesfocusing on multi-omicsdatain advanced human-centricin vitromodelsand inpatient samples as well ascutting-edgenetwork analysisand graph ML approaches.

Asuccessful candidatecombines deep biological knowledge and understanding witha breadth oftechnicalskillsin high-dimensional data analysisas well as curiosity willingness to learn and proveninterest and ability in mentoring both early-career data scientists as well as senior technicalexperts.

WhatYoullDo

• Manage and mentorearly careerdata scientistsandsenior technical experts fostering technical growthand cross-functional communicationwhilebuildinga culture of rigoraccountabilityinnovation and collaboration

• Support external partnershipsby aligning deliverables to partner expectationsensuringproject deliverywithhighscientificstandards and managingdirect and indirectstakeholder interactions

• Design develop and implementmulti-omicgraph ML and other high-dimensionalanalysesofrelevant biological datatosupportidentification oftherapeutic targets biomarkers and disease mechanisms

• Collaborate cross-functionallywithotherdata science teams ( GeneticsReal-World Data / Real-World Evidence) as well as Discovery Biology and therapeuticsexperts tointegratediverseinputs into cohesive execution plansdrivingdifferentiated insights

• WorkwithPlatform Engineeringteamstoidentifyand implement improvements to our platform

• Participate in planningdiscussions and provide inputs around prioritization and resource allocation

• Stay abreast of emerging trendsin relevant domains and apply new insights to strengthen program strategy and execution;workwithdata scienceandenterpriseleadership to set direction for innovation

• Be comfortable with scientific uncertaintyand embrace curiosity and creative solutions. Many of the challengesweretrying to addressdonthave known solutions or clear processes to arrive at answers

• Be anactive team member championing and adopting shared coding standardsparticipatingin code review and providing regular updates of your work and input into the work of your colleagues

What You Bring

• PhD inComputationalBiology Systems Biology Bioinformaticsor related quantitative field inthebiological sciences

• Teamleadership experiencemanagingtechnical teams and fostering collaborative team environments

• Prior industry experience including leadership of cross-functional projects or programs

• Demonstratedexpertiseinanalysis of high-dimensional biological data( proteomic epigenomicetc)via amodern data sciencestackin Python and/or R;extensive experience with datamanipulation ML and visualization (-learntidyverseetc)executed viarobust andreproducible pipelines

• Experience with collaborative developmentand documentationpractices ( Confluence Jira)

• Proven technical and executive communication experience with the ability to synthesize complex information for diverse audiences

• Proven ability tooperatein fast-paced ambiguous environments with a focus on delivery and impact

Nice to have

• Experience withmultivariatecausal reasoning( graphical models)

• Experience with multi-omics datageneration and analysisfrom patient samples

• Experience with network analyticsand/or graph ML

• Scientificexpertisein cardiometabolic or neurodegenerative disease

• Familiaritywith observational study design and execution( cohort orReal-WorldEvidencestudies)
• Familiarity with Statistical Genetics approaches to biological discovery (GWAS etc)

• Experience contributing to strategic planning and organizational development in a biotech or pharma setting

Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors including a candidates qualifications skills competencies and experience. Valo Health currently offers healthcare coverage annual incentive program retirement benefits and a broad range of other benefits.
